Hey guys, couldn't find in the search, so figured someone might know the answer.

Came home today and plugged my laptop in, charged it for a few minutes and it capped out at 90% charge. The orange LED straight turned off. No green one to indicate anything. Thinking it was weird, I powered off, unplugged and plugged back in, it went to orange and I thought it was well.

Now I just looked at it about an hour or so later, and the battery indicator in Windows says its at 90% and not charging (whatever), but the orange LED on the front is now blinking. I've never seen this before. What is the deal?

    G73JH-A1 etc.

After I restarted, popped the battery out and plugged it back in, the LED went solid orange again, and battery charged to 94%. It caps out the charge, but the green LED never goes back on. Seems weird that it will charge, but light won't come on. If I unplug it, the computer clearly recognizes that I unplugged it.

Your battery is monitored by the ACPI controller, and is from there where the percentage of capacity is reported from. It's known that sometimes the ACPI gets out of sync with the battery. You can try to recalibrate it by using it on battery and let it drain. (Go into the power profile and lower the warning levels or boot into DOS and run Prime, or something else)

Once dead, let it recharge to max. You can also use an app like HWINFO64 to check your wear levels.

If you need any additional support, PM me or call Customer Service, and use your case number I've PM'd you.

Am intrigued now. Decided to let it run out, turned off all warnings and let it go. Powered off a lot earlier than expected (battery was around 27-28%, according to Windows/HWINFO).

I immediately tried to turn it back on, it did, but didn't make it past post before shutting off again. Tried a couple of more times, with less success, it would turn on sometimes, sometimes not. Assumed at this point the battery was dead. Plugged it in, back to Windows, only to find that it was sitting at the aforementioned charge levels. Kinda bothered.

EDIT: Since I've had this plugged in, for over 10 minutes now, HWiNFO has been reporting that it is at 29.2% charged, and has not changed at all. Windows says its charging, orange light is on... but doesn't seem to be doing anything at all.

And now it says I'm at like 12%... Maybe it just reset itself?

If it was out of sync, it will take a lot of time to completely recharge and it will indicate the right amount of battery afterwards.

Has now stopped charing, 84%. Guess that lines up with the wear levels? Regardless, green light didn't come on.

My G73JH-A2 battery LED is not working =( I've seen it work when I first got the beast but using it without battery and always on AC for a couple of weeks turned to this.

Is there any chance I could get the battery LED working again?

    Hey,

Hate to say that, but this seems like a "going to be dead" battery.
Before you conclude this, tell me, does your laptop work fine if you remove the battery and run it only on your AC-adapter? If it does, this is probably a case of a battery which will soon die.. How old is your battery?
