This is my 3rd G73 that I have been through the first had a faulty batter that fried it.

The Second had faulty memory slots.

This one is fine except for the brightness/contrast/gamma. The blacks are so white and nasty looking. No matter how many times I mess with the settings. Any time I go inside a cave/room anything with low light the game is just ugh. And in the sun or lighted areas its all washed out.

My first G73 had the LG screen and it was just as bad looking. The second one had the AUO just as bad. This one is the LG screen again.

I am not sure if this is how the screen is supposed to look or if I am tweaking something wrong.

If anyone can help please do. I am tempted to go and return this 3rd model and just call it quits.

Uh Oh, your not making me feel so reassured. on my order on one earlier today. I been doing a lot of reading on the G73 and I haven't seen much complaint on the screen. I've heard a few complaints of it being to "mirrory", in the respect that it reflects too much of oneself on the screen. Where did you purchase it if you don't mind me asking?

First model was from Tiger Direct. Last two from Best Buy.

I have no idea what the deal is.

I tried playing LFD2 and it is borderline unplayable. THe same with Stalker, any of them.

Just from being on this site the last 2 days, I know Best Buy is a no no! Actually most if not all big corporations such as Best Buy, Target, Costco etc. will sell a "watered down" version of the manufactures' computers. I made the mistake about 5 years ago in buying a Gateway from Costco, spent near $1700 on a CPU that now I know I could of got much more bang for my buck.

EDIT: Also the big corps strip you of the the stock warranties, and Asus' warranty is quite a good one. 2 years plus 1 years Accidental Damage. You can't beat that. Better off spending the few hundred dollars more on one from PowerNotebooks or GenTech even NewEgg(when they get they back in). Hope this helps somewhat. Can you still return yours to Best Buy?

The screens are the same model.

Yes I can return it but I have $500 free cash that why I went with BB the second time.

The model I have does everything I want just the calibration for the screen is nasty no matter what I do.

I was reading that some screens on the G73 models are different, I don't remember what exact thread it was in. Try a search on the forum.

And I have gone through both different ones.

Im hoping it is a calibration issue and someone can list a good way to calibrate this.

Most non Bestbuy models use 1080p Hannstar screen. Great color and contrast though not as bright as the LG I had on the G73 I sold.

Unfortunately you may have a dud LG. I hope not. I believe there are color and gamma settings in the ATI control center program.

    Cheers,

I was going to suggest lowering the gamma in the CCC.
