    Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum in that i've only just signed up, but i've been reading this forum for a year or more now. I signed up so I could overclock my CPU and ask for help on that, but I decided to stick with OC my GPU and leave everything else be.

But I'm having an issue where if i leave my laptop on for too long (approx 2-5 hours), it starts to underclock. Stuck at 1200mhz with my CPU usage almost maxed out for all cores. I've got a 920xm so it can go up to 3.4ghz and should have a bclk of 2.0ghz. I don't know why this is happening and i wonder if anyone knows anything about this or what it could be.

It's not temperature related because my processors are normally at a cool 48-65 degrees at the most (non gaming of course). It's also not a program using so many threads that it needs to stay at bclk to use all the cores. Well it's below bclk.

Is there a way to force it to stay at a minimum of the bclk (without causing damage to it, like in the event of an overheat)? Like where it stays at 2ghz and the intel turbo auto overclocks from 2.0 and up?

Additional info in case it helps: GPU remains at default clock during all this, harddrive usage is minimal, 30% or less. And ram use never breaks 2.5 to 3gb. If i play any games or anything that would normally make the CPU overclock itself, it doesn't. It remains stuck at 1200mhz which is damn near impossible to play games on. Hell it takes time for me to load firefox (if i have more than 2 tabs).

I ran a few searches on here and on google and i didn't get any relevant info, so any help at all would be much appreciated.

You may be suffering from the throttling issues with your system. I would suggest flashing to 209. (From BIOS EZFlash utility from a USB Flash drive formatted for FAT32)

There were throttling issues with the G73, especially when getting on AC from battery. Bios 209 solved those issues, use the method chastity suggested. There's a thread here in the asus forum explaining how to do it for your G73 if you're unsure.

209 also solved a few minor issues that wouldn't bother you most of the time like the fn+esc freeze.

Ok, I was nervous about updating the bios because I had there was some minor functionality loss, like keyboard lights or something. But a processor running as it should is much more desirable than a keyboard with lights.

    Thanks alot guys!
