Thanks! I updated BIOS to 211 and CCC 11.3 in addition to earlier vBIOS upgrade and dusting off with air can. Now I didn't have even throttling anymore while playing Crysis2 for couple of hours.

Gone GSODs, shutdowns, crashes, poor video performance and stutterings!! Thanks you guys and gals on the forum!

Temps maxed now around 95C, even after overclocking to 800/1100, fsb150.

And yes Crysis2 looks and plays amazingly on G73Jh!

Makes no difference. The BB model had a lower res screen and smaller hard drives and less ram. Nothing different about the mobo or GPU.

Specially thank Chastity for her out-most dedication in putting links all the latest versions of both drivers and softwares as well as all known solutions in one single thread!

And thanks to the mods of the forum (allURgroceries) for putting everything in the sticky at the top of the subforum? Generally, it's nice to rep the people who fix things, rather than cluttering the threads with thanks.

Is 80C considered normal on this laptop while playing Dirt 2? I just repasted with ICD7 and I idle at around 54C with 21C ambient.

Considering I max out at 85C without a repaste, 80C sounds about right.

Lowest max load temps I've seen is 76C by our resident repaste queen Chastity. If I remember correctly anyways. So that should give you a good gauge.

If Chastity can't go lower, neither can you. That's the general sentiment. [IMG]

Yes. There's a thread in my sig that says "what to expect with a repaste". It's right there above your post. Oh, and look, it's also below.

I've got a list of other people who have repasted.

As i dont have an aircan, i just blew into the vents a few times. Worked wonders - My idle temps went down by about 6-7C and i now max out at 79C on furmark. I expect to get it down another 1-2C once i get an aircan and give it a proper go.

Did anyone encounter increased temps with the mobility drivers version 11.3?

I upgraded my drivers and was trying out Crysis 2. To my surprise, the G73 just down by itself. Turns out temps reached 105C. Idle temps reached 74-75C.

Before (using stock G73 drivers), idle temps would stay at around 65C and 80-85C at full load. Granted Crysis 2 could've been too demanding (tried running it at 1680x1050 Very High). I'll have to test thoroughly.

Temps shouldnt really be effected by that margin by drivers although they have been known to affect the temps in the past.

I myself dropped 4oC by using 11.3 over 11.2 and 11.4 but this could also be due to the thermal compound curing hard to say.

105oC is too high by any means and your idle temp is high as well might be an idea to take a look at compressed airing the insides out of dust or have a look at the repaste thread should it continue to increase.

Thanks. I've temporarily gone back to my old drivers just to test out how my temps fare. I was checking my vents and they dont seem to be clogged with dust or anything. Might give it a little spritz though when I get back home.

Is it really ok, to remove your hard drives before RMA? do they care? will it matter? im about to RMA my G73JH-A1 for Overheating, would turn off at 105degrees for nearly any game. Also, awhile back i lost a screw on the bottom left of my laptop when i had a slight drop, about 30cms off the ground. Nothing is wrong just a screw is missing, do you think ASUS might complain and not fix it?
