    Hi all,

I'm trying to install Assasins Creed 2 on my g73. The dvd drive will spin hard for about 20 seconds then it slows down completly and then the install bar moves a bit. It repeats this every 7 or so minutes. Is this just because the game is large or what?

The disc could be dirty or scratched, or you could have dust in the lens. That's usually what causes the drive to spin down like that when it should be reading data at a faster speed.

That's not it. I cleaned the drive and there are no scrathes on the disc.

It's still at it lol. It's about 90% done. I stopped it, restarted windows, reinserted the disc. Nothing worked. Maybe it's just this disc. I've never had any problems with others. I wonder if the game will actually run once it finishes.

You could also try copying all the contents from the disc to the hard drive, and installing from a folder there. i find that installing stuff from the hard drive is waaay faster than through a CD, probably because of the read/write speed. I have a couple of game ISO's sitting around and they install amazingly fast depending on how big the game is. I think GTA IV took the longest though because its a huge game.

It's doing it again. This time I tried to install Batman: AA. I tried to copy the contents to the hd but it would just do the same spin copy a little bit and spin down thing. Do I have a bad drive or what?

Sounds like you do. I would try and get a replacement.

or you can download the games of the internet, since you own the disk, you already own a license to it.

Just be sure to get a copy of the original, not a cracked version, since not only is it illegal, but you'll probably run into problems running it (and it may not work with your license key).
