I have a G73 JH that I got at Best Buy, it has not worked from day one. I have been run around about all I am going to be.
I have taken it back to best buy and they told me Asus has to handle the issues and repairs, this was in the 14 day return time, they would not trade it in or give me a new one. An employee followed me out of the store and told me to get someone to help that this has happened to others and they are not going to fix it. I could not believe what he was telling me. But now I am called a lair by them manager and that people who worked there had no authority on anything. Wow unreal.
I have talked to Asus and they said to take it to Best Buy that they had a repair contract with them, This has been going on for 9 weeks now!
Best buy took it for repairs and kept it for two weeks, and said that they opened it up and found that the motherboard was bad, and that they had ordered a new motherboard, then they sent it back to me last Wednesday and said that they would not work on it because it had bodily fluid in it from the factory, and that it was infested with bugs from the factory. What! why did they not see this when the said they had opened it. And how did they know what the fluids where?
Well now Asus says send it in. But I have to pay to send in a Brand new laptop that has never worked. And I have to wait two more weeks for the honor to use my brand new G73 JH laptop that I have not got to use yet.
I am disabled, and I saved for close 15 months to get this laptop , now I have a broken laptop from the factory that did not work more than 15 to 20 minutes at a time from the start and now I have to pay more to get it fixed.
I want a brand new laptop just like I paid for , not a brand new repaired laptop. That is not what I paid for.

You know we come to these sites to see there ratings on what is the best and what to buy. Well now we or I need this sites help getting the laptop that I paid for A new laptop that has in it what I was told it did, that works like it should. Not what I have now.
I'm not blaming anyone here for what happened, but what I do need is the help that this site can give to get what I was to have in the first place. I have been lied to at the store all I am going to be, I can not make them do anything as I do not have the money to hire legal help to make it happen. And they know this and use it. I am not the only one that has the same issue with the same type of computer where I live.
So of anyone here has a number or anything where I can get this done please post it so I can get it.
If anyone here knows who or how I can contact someone at ASUS to get what I paid for in the first place I will be very grateful .( Or can get in contact. )

AM I mad , you bet. But not at anyone here , I want to make that clear. After reading about what buyers are getting back after there repairs it just makes one wonder what is going to happen to mine .
Thanks for anyone that has any information that I can use to get this done!

BB's return policy is 14 days on electronics, except for Silver Premier members, who have 45 days.

In your case, I would gather up the names of those who you spoke to, and get in touch with the regional manager for Best Buy, or even higher. What has happened to you is a gross mishandling of your purchase, and should be rectified immediately.

You can also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Is it just me or am I the only one confused here?

First off, if it didn't work from Day 1, why didn't you return the notebook on Day 1 or Day 2 instead of waiting past the 14 days? And when you purchased the notebook, why didn't you ask what the return policy was? That's something I always ask for anything I buy that I might have to return.

And secondly, bugs and fluids? There is nothing that would convince me that Asus facilities would have bugs that destroyed your product.

I highly doubt Best Buy would have a cockroach infestation. Stores do have to operate within standards.

So now I'm thinking, do you live in a filthy apartment and cockroaches got into your notebook or did you take it apart and cockroaches got in again?

This story just seems wrong from top to bottom. As I said before, there are so many posts on this forum where I don't think the entire story is told and putting the blame on resellers/Asus and are unwarranted.

Sorry for my misinformation, anyways like Chastity says Best Buy is liable and should handle the issue, you just have to push it.

Uh no they are not. They are not liable for his bug infestation. And they are not liable outside of the 14 day return policy.

Almost nothing would convince me that Best Buy and Asus have a bug infestation problem destroying laptops.

LOL well I cant comment on the bugs or fluid, only on the fact that it didnt work from day one and that he did take it in within the 14 day return/exchange policy and they didnt return or exchange it.

One I could not get back the first day.
Two when I took it back I was told that
Best Buy did not handle this computer and that I would have to contact Asus.
I could not get them to replace this item. I had the paper work and receipt that says you have 14 days to return for replacement or refund, but again I was told that I had to send it and or contact Asus. and I did.
Asus gave me a number and had me take the computer back to the store, Asus said that they had a contract with Best Buy for this very thing.
Best buy then took the computer for repair. But as you can see they did not fix it.
I was even told by the management when they took it in for repair that if it was a hardware issue they would replace the laptop for me.
Then they said that they do not do that and never said such a thing. I found the employee that told me this and had the people with me that also heard what was said. Then the management said that they can not back what an employee said even when they where the ones who told the employee to tell me this. The employee told the manager that he did say that and he did not like being put in the middle like he was. This is not just a matter of me wanting something for nothing.

I guess the employees are just filling up space because they have no authority to speak for the products in the store.
This is on record , the time lines and when it happened . I just want a number of someone I can get in contact with, a person that has some authority to make things happen.

Did you accidently pee on it? Or a pet perhaps accidentaly pee on it? And maybe after smelling like urine the bugs were attracted.

I believe all of us here at nbr are just as sympathetic as the next guy but it's hard to give advice to people if it sounds like the entire story was not told. Please fill in the blanks so we can give you the best advice possible.

It would take a lot of time to fill in the whole story. I will be glad to tell someone who can act on what has happened.
IF you do not want to help then say so. I will not bother anyone that is for sure.
I used to think that things that where posted like this really did not happen. But after going through it myself and reading what has happened to others I am going to take the time now to listen , It does happen and hopefully it will not happen to you .

This is some advice for future purchases.
#1 - buy with a credit card. This not only gives you consumer protection, it also doubles the warranty on many electronics.

#2 - At this point, copy the return policy and bring it with you to the store, with a copy of your receipt and ask to speak to a manager. Write down his or her name and ask them to explain why you can't exchange the product.

#3 - If they won't return/exchange and are breaking their own policies, call the credit card company and tell them to put a block on the payment. I've only dealt with visa, but they will ask you to fax them the info in #2, and will then go to bat for you (they were fantastic at dealing with a problem I had previously). At the same time file a complaint with the BBB so it's on file.

Long story short - I cant figure out why best buy would not return something within their written policy. If I were in your shoes I'd simply cancel payment and refuse to pay, or put it on escrow.

iv'e got to say that in my line of work i have never once seen a computer with bugs in it...not real life crawling around bugs...(i have seen spider webs in desktops..but nothing that is still alive and wandering around)

iv'e taken thousands of laptops apart from brand new machines to 15 year old paper weights...

if i KNOW the machine has bodily fluids in it i will refuse to work on it as well, i'm sure thats common practice just about anywhere.

until the whole story comes out i'm gonna have to say that it's no surprise that best buy won't work on it or replace it. i have never had an issue with them refusing to return something within the specified period if the paperwork is in order and there is no sign of intentional misuse.

i guess the only advice i can offer is next time buy something with accidental damage coverage...

....and read the fine print to see if urine is covered.

(now I REALLY want to hear the entire story lol)
