Hi i have a G73 jh BB with the 720 qm and ati 5870 GPU. here is the problem the gpu fan will not go too 100% speed it just did a hi temp shutdown on the gpu. But the cpu fan will go 100%.

I just did a full rebuild from the on board dvd's With that i just updated the gpu to the newest one released on the 25 JAN 2012. and all the on board firm ware is up dated according to the asus manager. the only way i can get the gpu fan to go 100% is using the RW-everthing and modifiy the EC section cell 99 and forcing the fans to go 100%. any one have any problems with this lately? I did a search and i found nothing..

    thanks

    Joe

Could you post a screenshot of your HWINFO sensors at idle and load please. The fan speeds are read in RPM as they both just show as 30% for the JH.

If you are seeing high temperatures to the point of thermal shutdown and the fan is not running as fast as it should use compressed air to clean out the fan vents it may be clogged with dust to the point that it is not running at full speed.

I would not mess about with RW to force your fans to 100% they shouldnt need to run at 100% all the time there is obviously a problem with your cooling.

But why he is able to see/hear the fan at fullspeed with RWE?
But yeah, it's better to see a HWInfo screen first.

One reason why i could see the fan not reving up is because you have very uneven temps. By that i mean that thermal shutdown will occur if any of your sensors are hitting shutdown temps, but it could possible that the fan is running off only one of the sensors you have on the GPU. This is just a guess though, so take it for what it is.

Also as the others said, HWiNFO screenshot please.
