I have a sporadical problem with my machine.
sometimes when i play assassins creed brotherhood for 20 mins and the speakers start making a horribly loud noise like short circuit.
I try to put speakers in mute mode, the icon of mute display on screen but the sound continues, i force shut off my computer with power button and i start again with no problem.
Sometimes the game close without any warning and within 2 minutes if I do nothing the noise starts again, if i try to run rog cpu-z or nb probe, i acelerated the problem. i try to see the temps in AIDA64 and only diodo GPU (MemIO) are in 85 ºC, not too hot.
The sound is like short circuit when you put in or out several times the plug in sound headphone entrance but more loud.

If anybody know the solution or options to fix it, please help.
    Thanks a lot.

Most of us see this problem with this model my JH is 18 months old and still does it and so far it has not made the slightest difference apart from a evil crackling sound that lasts about 10 seconds for me every now and then when I close a program and the GPU begins to cool back down to idling temperature.

Probably is a hardware issue but I wouldn't worry bout it as it has never caused me any harm although people have RMA'd in the past because of it and although you can use shutdown or sleep to get rid of it if you just wait it will go away, or at least mine does.

My old g73 used to do that somewhat frequently the first month I owned it. Then suddenly it just stopped. The 10 months I was using it it didn't happen again. I didn't do anything specifically to remedy the problem either...it just stopped. I havent used my g73 in a few months, but i hope that when i do sell it eventually, i hope it doesnt decide to start acting up again so the buyer wont complain about it lol. :p

Well I dont want to boast but ;)

I find it quite humerous this annoying crackling sound although it always comes when you least expect it and it scares the crap out of me haha.

Other day I visited my elderly parents and took the ol JH with me couldn't sleep so thought a bit of World Of Tanks at 3am couldn't hurt, was just about to shut down when..well you can guess what happened the old man woke up thinking it was world war 3 and of course they are old so they leave the bedroom door open waiting for burglers to break in.

I laughed, they didn't find it quite so funny. True Story.

I thought of many things it could be and then it happens when I didn't think it would and proves me wrong it must be a component linked to the speakers that is getting hot when the GPU heats up. It is one hell of a racket though a proper cry of a banshee on mine :D

I've always wondered if it's caused by the fact the lid magnet is sometimes installed next to the integrated mic.

I actually once had a feedback squeal whenever I'd close the lid if the speaker volume was too high which was definitely feedback from the mic. It wasn't a crackling though...

The issue has since been resolved after driver update, but I was also able to resolve it by lowering the outbound level on the mic. This was a distinct feedback squeal though, not a crackle.

I have never had the mentioned crackling through the speakers, but generally I use a USB wireless headset. I do have a newer model G73JH though, the BST7 model with the newer processor generation.

Could this be a driver issue? I have the latest Realtek drivers installed alongside the latest SB Live X-fi software. I had to run the SB-Live x-fi patch/crack thing to get the SB Live software to detect my hardware, but ever since my sound configuration has been flawless...

I had it crackling once, and I fixed it by resetting to the card's defaults.
