I've been playing alot of games on my G73 and i noticed my buttons have gotten shiny. What should i do? Is it worn down from friction or is it compounded oil from my fingers, it doesnt seem to clean off.

Not true...I've pull the system apart about 7 or 8 times. There is no air inlet under the keyboard.

I'm very picky about clean feeling/looking keyboards and have just always used an external keyboard but I wouldn't mind doing away with it if those keypad protectors actually work well.

Anyone have any experience with them and the G73 or similar setup i.e. G51 care to share their experience?

    But you are right. ;)

Just take care of it and use computer wipes every few months...

That's a nice protector. I had one for a mini keyboard and worked great. Would like to get one for my g51.

I use a soft cloth every second day or so to clean my keyboard before I boot the laptop. Just the cloth and nothing else and it works quite good.

I was a bit worried about keeping the keyboard in good shape from a lot of game play. Like playing a FPS and holding the W key to move forward constantly I was concerned it would become permanently depressed or something. So I bought a game controller, the Logitech G13. At least this way if I broke the keys I would only have to buy a new controller and not replace the keyboard.

Just get a Belkin N52te. It's great for most games...fps in particular. It saved the keyboard on my P-6831FX. It's now doing the same on my G73.

I plan on getting the Logitech K340 compact, wireless keyboard for heavy typing.

Any all-purpose cleaner would be sufficient to remove dirt and grime from your keyboard. Just make sure you don't use the same solvent on your screen.
