    Hello,

Ok, the situation is that I wished to come to this forum for some information, I would then be able to go and purchase a suitable G73 and have it imported to my own country. Things were going quite well, people directed me in the right direction with my first post in here so I went to 2 of the sellers. I said 'I would like model xxxx to be delivered to my country and how long will it take, how much will it cost?'

All quite simple, or so I thought. However, then they both said 'you don't want that one, thats last years model, you want xxxx'.

Now as I understand it, this: G73JH-A1 is the original model feat a HD5870, mouse, headphones, backpack? I recognise that the latest edition is the 3D one, but that will take another week or 4 to arrive and I can't be bothered waiting.

What's the 'latest' variant that replaces the G73JH-A1 (with all the goodies) that is NOT the 3D variant?

If the G73JH-A1 is no longer available, then what replaces the: G73JH-A1 with all the extras?

If the model with all the 'extras' is no longer available, which model should I be going for?

I would appreciate if someone could direct me in the right direction please.

    Thank you.

G73jh-B1 with upgraded i7 740QM and Momentus XT Hybrid drives.

You can always just get a G73jh-A2 and upgrade the DVD drive to BluRay and you have G73jh-A1. The only difference between A1 and A2 was DVD or BluRay.

It appears the G73jh is being phased out. This I hope indicates that Asus is preparing for the next gen AMD GPU which hopefully will be based on the HD6850 or HD6970 Barts Chip desktop cards.

The HD6850/HD6870 seem to be about 25-50% faster than the HD5770 that the HD5870M is based on with about the same TDP, power requirements while running cooler. The Barts chip is the most efficient power/watt available in the world right now.
