On my G73, I use a standard user account for my normal day to day.

However, I've discovered that the 3 buttons (backlight button, lighting mode button, and twin turbo button) DO NOT work in a standard user account.

The backlight button does turn on/off, but you need to use the FN+F3/4 keys to dim/lighten the backlit.

The other 2 keys, however, do not work at all.

Anyone aware how to get these to work in a standard user account? Of course, I could change to an administrator, but defeats the purpose of using the standard user account.

    Thanks.

I don't have a solution for you, but may I ask what the purpose is of using a standard account on your own computer?

Ya those buttons don't work in a limited user account or so I found out too. Only admins can make changes to hardware so if you use a standard user account those buttons are just for show. Well the one button works, the Middle one I think, that turns on and off the light but thats because it's working outside the windows system. but the other two don't or wont. don't really worry about it, some users have uninstall the buttons altogether and have set them up as custom trigger buttons for apps. do a search here if your feeling like doing that. other wise learn to live with it. :D

The twin turbo button doesn't work because P4G Hybrid requires administrative privileges. Try switching power profiles with fn + space bar with a user account and you'll know what i mean. The other button is for splendid i think which is not installed on my G73, seriously, that utility is useless so i haven't tried it with limited administrator rights.

Same problem with G73SW. The backlight button does turn off the light but lighten the backlit on doesn't work. Anyone knows how to fix this problem?

sl0519... You mean on a standard account or when you run as the administrator?

    Thanks all for your help!!

Reason for standard user: extra level of protection. My brother in law does this; by running as a standard user, limits the ability of malware to make changes, and if it does, I simply delete the account, and recreate a new one, w/o the changes the malware made affecting my administrator account.

    Kinda like running Linux

If you want to continue running a user account, for all your P4G usage, you'll need to go to the program in the start menu and run it as an admin. Not ideal, but hey! it works at least. There's probably a way to get it running with admin priviledges when windows starts, but i haven't bothered to look for it.
