    Hi everyone,

My laptop is starting to overheat so I want to repaste. Since I'm still under warranty I want Asus to do it.

Is this possible? Can I just ask them to do a repaste for me without having to pay?

Does anyone here let Asus did do the job and what was the result?

    Thanks in advance

I am running stock paste after sending in for RMA and it's working fine. It's not running as cool as it was when I had IC Diamond but it's not overheating. I've only had it back for a few weeks. The temperature in my office right now is a chilly 62F and my GPU is idling at 44C. In a warm room it idles at about 51C.

I think they properly apply the paste during RMA but the paste they use is not as good as the ones we typically use. I noticed they put all new thermal pads on mine too. I can see them under the heat sink behind the access panel.

ICD7 or MX2/MX3 would be better but the Asus paste is "good enough" in my opinion. One of these days I will break down and repaste mine again. It's good enough for now.

Oh and I forgot to say that they do not charge you for this. Just turn in a trouble ticket for an overheating laptop and they will give you an RMA number to send it in. You will have to be on the phone for a while to convince them it needs to be redone but once they agree to take it, there is no charge if it's under warranty.

Yeah ASUS will open a ticket for overheating laptop. What I did is I took a screenshot of GPU reaching 98C then customer service opened a RMA ticket for me. But at the end I didn't send my laptop in due to reason having to live without laptop for several weeks or longer. I did my own repaste and for CPU. All is well. Warranty is gone however lol
