So I've been looking around for some replacement peices. Mainly a new touchpad (and hope it doesn't have issues) and a second hard drive caddie.
I found 2 sites for the caddy:
ASUS Laptop Part: 13GNY810M12X-1 - G73 series (G73JH, G73JW) primary hard drive caddy with screws, not for use in 2nd drive bay
and
Laptop Parts for ASUS | 13GNY810M12X-1 (Over 10,000 notebook parts)
But both are $45 bucks, seems a little outrageous.
$95 bucks for the touchpad.
Here's the keyboard since it seems common.
$70 bucks for a keyboard: ASUS Laptop Part | N50 series (N50VN-A1B, N50VN-B1B, N50VN-FP101C) keyboard, numbers on part include MP-07G73US-528
But my question is, these prices all seem a little high. I'd expect the HDD caddy to be no more than 15 bucks considering it's just a chunk of metal. Anyone have a cheaper site?
Here's the parts sites direct links:

As I ssaid in other post...
It's not suppossed to covered by the 2-years warranty both the missing-keystrokes and the choppy touchpad. More than buy a new one you should request a replacement.
BTW, nice website -
Can't request a new one, I repasted my CPU and GPU.

@cohowap
All the parts here. Asusparts
Shipping is a bit much and slow to US but much better prices.
Cheers -
Too bad they don't list the G73JW dual-button palmrest yet.
I really hate that they list everything for both the G73JH and the G73JW, when, obviously, quite a few of the parts are specific per model (motherboard, video card, palmrest). -
Email them. They have the new jw keyboard according to @hellcry he can order it.

G73JW-A1 Top Case Assy
Thats the link for it. But i cant give you any guarantee it will even work yet, since i still havent received mine, becouse theyre still waiting for parts. -
Crossing my finger for your mutant g73 works hellcry, but I still wonder if just replace the input device (touchpad and KB) shall solve the issues. IMO seems to be a PS/2 controller problem, which is soft in a chip in the mobo, not in the external input devices.
-
I've decided to RMA mine for a different issue. I have the screeching crazy sound issue when exiting games. The fix for that is a motherboard replacement. As soon as my replacement keyboard arrives, I'm going to install it and then use my RMA number.
I guess we'll find out if it's the motherboard or the touchpad. -
HellCry - You're replacing the JH's touchpad assembly with the JW's? Tell me how it goes and if it resolves your issues. From what I hear the JW has no issues.
-
Really? What are you reading? Because here, lots of people report issues.
-
As the vBios issue for JH, not all the users reports touchpad problems. Seems to be the same for JW, specially when a expert review reports (significant) latency input problems.
-
Can you post a link to this expert review that reports a problem with the latency, i haven't found anything related, and about to buy it.
-
PM Sent to me from Gary.
-
The review said the latency shot up when they clicked the mouse buttons. The reviewer didn't elaborate on any keystroke misses or incorrect cursor behavior. That doesn't mean the JW won't see that issue. No JH reviews ever mentioned strange cursor behavior or missed key presses either.
-
Thanks for the link, i think should be fine as i dont play with the touchpad, thanks again for the link.
-
you have the skills to play MW2 and SC2 with the touchpad ???
Anyway, latency in the system can lead to the system suffer some hiccup in games. -
I agree, but according to the review was only present when using the touch pad, so in my case is highly unlikely that ill play with the touch pad, it seems more a issue with touchpad drivers, either way thanks for the headsup.
