Four months now since i got my laptop from BB.. my hard drive is making clicking noise and laptop wont recognize it. I woke up in the morning, and laptop was hung up on the repair screen and wouldnt boot after that.
I had few blue screens 2 days ago but couldnt relate to anything except video card when I plugged in hdmi cable. I had to reboot in safe-mode few times then it worked.
Anyone experienced bad seagate drives in the G73? seems like they fail alot over time.
so my advice .. BACKUP your important stuff now!
now I am stuck tryin to recover my pictures.. and just bought same new drive from amazon for 75$ and will try to open it myself? any suggestions?
sorry Iwanted to post this on Asus forum not lounge

Always back up your data and don't replace with Seagate drives.
Doh!
On the plus side, drives are real easy to replace on the G73.

If you are buying that same model Seagate drive in the hope of replacing the circuit board this does not always work. When we send dead drives out the company that does it says they have to try and source the exact same part number and firmware and preferable the same batch. Very very hard to do. Also you could end up with 2 dead drives.
If you are just installing the new drive and will restore Windows from the restore disk then try to access the bad drive once Windows is installed on the new drive, just make sure the replacement drive is the same size since the restore disks only want to properly restore to the same size drive as the drive originally shipped.
Cheers,
