I've had my BestBuy G73 for 2 months now and I've noticed that my Wi-Fi at home intermittently drops from time to time. It will auto reconnect but I lose internet for a minute or 2 and it's starting to happen pretty often (every few hours or so).

My other laptops in the house work fin 24/7 and do not have this issue so I'm assuming I need a driver update or something? Anyone else have this problem or have a download link for a different driver?

    it can be several things
    1. interference from house phones or neighbors
    2. router settings
    some solutions are
    1. try an intel wireless card like the 6200 or change the channel selection in your router
    2. simle solution is set your router to default and troubleshoot from there
the base card that comes with it is an atheros wifi. you may want to replace that for an intel 6200

I actually had similar problems for a while... Reinstalling the Atheros drivers helped until I got the opportunity to swap out the wireless card for a Intel 6200... Haven't had any problems since.

If U do not want to change the card and the other suggestions do not help I would look at advanced power settings -wireless adapter- and set it to max performance on AC and or Battery. I am on stock drivers with mine & don't have the issue, and I use it regularly via a wireless connection.

Until I replaced the adapter with the 6200n, I had a huge issue with this as well. Some of it attributed to a cheap microwave, the rest I'm assuming is just local interference. Never did really find out.

Haven't had a single issue since upgrading the wifi card. Best $30 I ever spent.

I've got 3 other laptops in the house, they all work flawlessly except on my G73 so the thing with interference should be ruled out. This has got to be a driver thing, it's happening every hour now and getting ridiculous. I was using the Win7 64 default drivers and then decided try the updated Atheros drivers and it's STILL happening. Any other suggestions?

I have 2 macbooks, and iMac, and a PoS Dell notebook running in mine. These 4 machines have no issues.

Since I replaced the wifi card in the G73. . no issues.
I also had a PC desktop with a D-link DWA-552 wireless N PCI card connecting wirelessly, and it had the exact same issue as the G73. I ended up having to run about 35' of cable into the basement over it.

I'm not saying your issue couldn't be driver related, but I wouldn't rule out the interference issue quite yet.

Apparently the WiFi card is having a problem dealing with whatever conditions are at the house. If you have a spare USB unit, try it and see if it continues. Or you can do what many (including me) did and got a replacement Intel 6200. The unit supports more protocols and has a higher max transfer rate over N. Just remember to have WMM enabled for Intel N highspeeds.

I haven't seen a model that comes stock with an Intel, but resellers that do customizations (like powernotebooks.com) may have a custom model.

I've had nothing but trouble with the Atheros card used in the G73, and I've had it come in 3 machines. I pulled it as soon as I got home and tossed in a Dell OEM 5100AGN.

I've had it drop connections constantly on my wife's NV5927U. The only way I could keep a stable connection for more than a day was to not hide the ssid. I just gave up and downgraded her from the card it came with to the older Atheros G card that came in my netbook.

I had no issues with my Atheros card. I did upgrade it a couple weeks ago, but that was more for curiousity's sake and getting that 270mbps rather than any issues. I would say there may be some incompatibilities between the Atheros cards and your wireless router.
