I can't quite grasp what the problem is but my G73 when using wi-fi is a as slow as a tortoise! I have my IBM Lenovo C100 sitting right next to it, on the same network and it's absolutely demolishing the G73 in online performance.

My G73 says the network connection is "excellent" and is at about 65-70 mbps while my Lenovo is 54 mbps. I ran a speed test and my G73 garnered a laughable .19 mbps while the Lenovo received a 5.03 mbps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you in some power-saving mode, and if you are is your wireless option set to "maximum power saving"?

At one time I had similar performance issues. I upgraded to an Intel Centrino 6200 card and have not had any issues since.

    Just something to think about.

Hm, I never thought of that. I'll look into it.

Mindinversion, I was going to buy the 6200 but I didn't think I'd need it. I now have the laptop so would I have to send it back just to get a $35 item to be placed in it? How lame...

If you can work a small Phillips screwdriver and four screws, you can easily do it yourself :)

The WiFi module is the easiest thing in the G73 to swap out. It's right behind the underside panel.
