Folks, my G73-A1 is to be shipped from the US (powernotebooks) to me in less than a day, after almost 2 month's wait! :)

I'm just wondering, when I receive it, would I fry the laptop if I directly plug the adapter (Full Range Auto Switching AC Adapter according to powernotebooks) into a wall socket?

FYI I live in Hong Kong where electricity supply is 220V, 50Hz, with a type G socket. I have a travel adapter that converts the american 2 pin into our 3 pin.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Nowadays, most laptop (including the G73) power adapters are capable of accepting inputs of 100V-240V and 50-60Hz. All you'll need is a plug adapter. However, keep in mind that you'll probably need a US 3 pin to HK 3 pin adapter.

I can confirm you'll be just fine. I'm typing this on the G73 I just unpacked (about two hours ago). I ordered it from Newegg earlier this week. I didn't have the patience to wait for an A1 or A2 model. Besides, Newegg had a better financing deal for me compared to any other place/site.

The power adapter will work just fine for you in Hong Kong. I checked the label on the underside and I can confirm it it lists the voltages 100-240V. As far as the 50/60 Hertz, it should not be an issue at all. The electronics I've had in the past always operated on either cycle. (Lived in mainland Japan & Okinawa for a number of years.) You'll only need the three prong adapter.

Plan on not getting much sleep when it arrives. :)
