Im on CCC 10.6 and I cant set mine to the 1600x900 res either. I was going to suggest something about the aspect ratio being off...but I seem to remember being able to set it to 1600x900 in games just fine.

1) Start regedit
2) Navigate to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000
3) Find the value " DALNonStandardModesBCD1" on the right. Right click the value and choose "Modify" or "Modify binary"
4) Add the following values to a new row at the bottom of the binary data: 19 00 06 00 00 00 00 60
5) Close regedit and reboot
You should now have the 1600x900 60Hz option in CCC -
Or just install the 10.1 drivers from the Asus support website, which have the 1600x900 resolution available already and are just as stable. Dont install later reference drivers though...
