weird it is not there...
says only 4 bios...
yep its gone!!! maybe that means the ultra new bios is coming out with all the fixes and a new vbios coming too -
For me, it is still not listed there. But I checked the one which is on their FTP and I think it is the same, both has 3F04D66B CRC32 and both were packed 07.27 9:40.
-
Really weird!!!
It was there 10 min ago. I managed to download it and compared it to leaked one from DRevan. They are same. BTW it's listed in bios history.
-
haha gone now! maybe we'll be getting bios 212 "fans full blast all the time"
-
Its the same thing. Tested with checksum.
They even wrote "To change threshold of the "Fan Full Run" setting for VGA device". Its like theyre making fun of us. Thats just what we need to solve all our problems ya...
And i hate that support site, its coded so poorly that when i press a tab it opens the next or previous tab on the list or sometimes even jumps two at a time...
Edit: Seams i downloaded it just in time
.
-
Bios 211 back on support site again. Checked 1 min ago.
-
Wondering if they uploaded the wrong one. Do they still compare as the same?
-
It's gone again lol
-
Back again
Is this some kind of a game
-
Its like if Asus were:
ASUS: Okey, here is the new BIOS
us: *trying to click download*
ASUS: Hehe, too slow! -
So any idea what it does exactly?
-
OMG Have you even read the threads here???
Its been posted 100x and youve got a screenshot of the support site with the description in the OP. How much more do you need? -
Oh, then I guess I am winning.
I managed to downloaded it twice. Checked again still same bios.
-
Calm down -.- I wont read every thread about a buggy laptop and since that was a bios update i was wondering if it got any hidden fix for the GSOD issues that's all, i did read every post in this thread and didn't find any answer.
-
Or one of you is working offline and needs to erase his browser history
-
This isnt the original thread about this. If you just looked at the first page of the Asus Gaming Notebook Forum section youd immediately see the other thread Asus G73jh BIOS 211 where everything was explained in detail more than enough times. Its getting annoying seeing the same questions over and over becouse people dont feel like reading and decide to litter these threads with the same questions over and over completely unnecessarily, making the threads much harder to read since you have to scroll past all that. Please read what has already been posted before asking questions that have already been answered.
-
This BIOS is like one of the greatest Hungarian/American, Harry Houdini, because it's gone again
-
You refuse to get my point so i will leave it at that, i was just asking if the "official" bios fixed anything that's all.
-
I just downloaded it from the site, awhile ago it's not there but now it's there.
-
How can it fix more things if it's the same? -
A few posts before yours i said its the same thing as the leaked version:
So id say your question has been answered, its only whether or not you took the time to go read the original thread what the changes were. The official release notes are also posted in there. All has been answered so what point are you trying to make? -
It's up for me... Still the same as the one posted earlier.
EDIT: Updated successfully with EZFlash. Lights are still good and you can definitely tell the fan spins up faster. -
I updated my BIOS using Winflash. Keyboard lights still works and I think I got a performance increase in ARMA2.
-
if all it does is change the fan threshold, i dont know if i want to install this
-
Fixed.
10char -
its there now, all it does is change the fan speed, no vbios.
-
I find it unlikely that future bios releases will change the fan threshold back to those in 209 and prior. Therefore I see little reason to not install 211, even if it doesn't address the glaring issues it actually should.
-
Here is the full change log of BIOS 211:
change threshold of the "Fan Full Run" setting for VGA device from 69 to 76. -
Actually, this is the full change log
- To support WiMax device for Wireless Console 3.
- The wireless LED will not be changed after WiMax device is turned on or off via Wireless Console 3 interface.
- Wireless Console 3 will see WiMax but not BT and the system has BT but not WiMax device.
- Locked USB interface or BT device in BIOS Setup utility and boot to OS, Wireless Console still have Bluetooth icon but Bluetooth device is still present in device manager.
- Wireless Console will still show BT/WiMax icon after locking all USB ports.
- To update thermal policy for VGA TSD issue.
-
No keyboard light fix, would expect it will be one of the easier options to fix!
-
Flashed from 209 to 211 everything seems to be working fine. Did EZflash.
-
l2read, this was discussed a lot of times.
-
Wondering if I can go from 206 bios to 211 and have all previous fixes in 209 or must i go to 209 then 211?
-
You can go even from 204 to 211. There will be no problem. Just use easyflash not winflash.
-
The 211 contains the fixes that the previous ones had. But note that your laptop will run louder without any real effect.
-
I will help you out.
There is a problem where if you flash with a version of Winflash that isnt up to date you will lose keyboard lighting.
Make sure you get the latest (2.5 off the top of my head) from Asus and not just type winflash in google. If you reflash with the latest version of winflash you should get your keyboard lights back. -
Do NOT use winflash at all. Use EZFlash in bios. That one works fine for sure. Its always more dangerous to flash from windows so why risk it?
-
Like I said Asus says to use the WINflash on their website and make sure its the correct version.
-
Asus isnt the most trustworthy source id say. They released the previous buggy versions too and told us to use those which made many users loose their keyboard lights. Even if the software works, the things running in the background in Windows can cause problems, so its wiser to use EZFlash in bios.
And if i remember correctly, reflashing the Bios wont bring your lights back. You have to RMA it and let the techs reflash the Keyboard Light Controller firmware, since you cant do that yourself.
Please refer to the Asus G73JH Keyboard Light Failure After BIOS Flash 209 thread for more information. -
I agree. I personally won't use Winflash whatsoever.
-
In our test environment we pretty much follow the same rule with when doing BIOS updates on our test machines. If we "brick" a test machine, it is long process to replace it, and ruins the test/release schedule. Unfortunate as it might be, we require the ODM to test the WinFlash installation of the BIOS, since in most cases they have immediate access to equiptment and repair tools.
It is highly possible that ASUS may have done a similar thing, but I don't know if ASUS is the ODM of the G73 or if they ODM it from another provider. Quanta, is the ussual "gaming" MoBo ODM and we have had nearly no failures with their BIOS in several years.
In Peace...
Trav... -
That's why I'm gonna leave 209 and give 211 a miss
-
Wise decision
.
I reflashed mine back to 209 since the laptop was noticably louder on 211 and was annoying me. I dont see them selling it as a "silent bomber" with that bios... -
1) Asus says you can use the latest WinFlash OR EasyFlash
2) Asus also says that a BIOS update can fix GSODs.
3) Running a flash utility while Windows is running is more risky than flashing from a BIOS utility.
With that in mind, choose whatever you want to use, since it's not my laptop.
PS- I use EasyFlash
-
Necroing this because I want to know if anyone's fans became louder after flash, especially if they have the card downclocked when idle.
-
Hey betaflame, please do not resurrect old post.
BTW, Just for you question, extreme downcloking in idle doesn't mean you will obtain extremely low temps. There's a lower temp threshold you cannot avoid....just turning off your device to reach room temp. That's why the fans now are louder, the threshold were modified, simple. And use an air can to blow away the dust from your air ventilation fans, it will help. -
So flashing down to 209 would make it quieter?
-
If you never have a GSOD with both 206 and stock vBIOS, put it back and test yours fans noise. If you experienced GSOD and now have the v93, is extremely recommended stay in the last BIOS for full compatibility.
-
Nekki in 211 BIOS only the Gpu fan threeshold is changed
i believe the vbios compatibility is just a placebo ...
@betaflame - TEST and you will get the best answer
G73 bios 211 out officially
