I recently installed the RealTek SRS drivers from the ASUS support page (I also updated to the latest firmware) and suddenly my one sound output devices was detected as two, but it didn't just do that but completely screwed the two up as well in terms of channels.
Now I have two sound output devices in my control panel, one for ONLY the laptop's left channel and the other for the laptop's right channel as well as the headphone jack (they are active simultaneously) (the headphones being the only output with both the left and right channels).
I tried on multiple times to uninstall the drivers through the device manager but since nothing seemed to work I just now completely reinstalled Windows 7 x64 from a fresh disc. But as soon as I booted the laptop I yet again noticed that the problem persisted.
Any clues on how I can remove/fix the problem?
ADD: Since the reinstall I've yet to install any specific audio drivers, so I'm currently running on Microsoft's default ones.

So it seems to have fixed itself by installing some older Realtek drivers. However, what is this SRS and how do I fix it? Because it only prompts about not finding a SRS compatible device, even though I install using ASUS official packages.

When you install those drivers one powers the 2 speakers and the other powers the sub. Dont use them.
Download the latest Realtek driver im using 2.58 which runs very well with the Creative Drivers should you want to use the Sub as well as the 2 speakers.
You MUST install it twice because the first time you run the setup it will uninstall the old driver and ask you to restart. Once restarted install it again and this will work.
I then installed the creative drivers from Chastity's driver page HERE which works well with the Sub and gives all the options for BASS BOOST/EAX/3D etc. -
I'm trying with the 1.1 MB drivers now. -
The 1.1 MB drivers seems to have fixed it, so thanks yet again
Now, why the heck ASUS didn't decide to connect the subwoofer to a seperate sub channel is beyond me. Bass Boost in all honor, but it's nothing in comparison with a real dedicated sub channel. -
The sub although small and poor I find gives a good bass increase and certainly makes a difference when using the Creative features but I dont think they can claim its a 2.1 surround system maybe 2.05 -
The sub channel is suppose to have it's own crossover hardwired in, so no need to set it up as a 2.1. The SRS drivers include the Dolby Digital Live and Surround features that our ships aren't licensed for, so don't bother with those. If you did mange to get them to install, what package did you use?
