I just read that if you update with the ATI drivers instead of the ASUS drivers you risk the GSOD on the G73, but if you don't update with ATI drivers you can't play certain games like FF14. Has this been fixed? What I read this from was in June so I'm hoping its been fixed since then, I'm looking to buy a G73 in about a month so I can play FF14 so this has me worried.

An Asus manager is working with us here at NBR to fix the issue. I've seen some people estimate that a fix is coming by next week. That's something I hope for.

ATI 10.8 driver is said to be compatible with asus g73 without causing gsod, we'll see about that when the driver comes out in next week.

Next week eh? Anytime within the next month would do, I'm looking to get a new gaming laptop as soon as I get back from the sandpit. If the G73 can't play FF14 then its a deal breaker for me.

Like the guide above says, you'll probably have to OC your G73 after updating to the 10.7a or newer drivers, but after that you should be GSOD free. There are a few people who have problems though, sadly.

But in my case, I've played the beta for at least 8 hours (in 1 1/2 hr. - 2hr sessions) without a single GSOD. So I'm not too concerned about it not being stable, personally. And it runs well at High Textures, Texture Filtering, and Shadows with 2x AA and most of the shiny features enabled. There's lag in the cities, but that's just how it is with most mmos on any computer that isn't at the very top of its generation.
