best buy and newegg have same laptop with 460 video but the only difference is memory 1GB vs 1.5GB.also different hdd but I don't care about that.
anyone know why memory is different on these two laptops?

    Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G73SW-XN2 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 17.3" 8GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M

    ASUS - Laptop / Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 17.3" Display / 8GB Memory / 750GB Hard Drive - Black - G73SW-BST6

also bestbuy have offer that if You buy laptop for over 700$ You get free Xbox 4GB (college student only)

Best Buy model has a crippled 128-bit memory bus on top of the reduction in RAM.

The reduction in RAM? What reduction in RAM?

Explain the memory bus please, it's been a *long* time since I took electronics ;)

1GB vs 1.5GB. The memory bus is just the connection between the GPU itself and the RAM on the card. A wider bus usually= more bandwidth. True in this case because the GTX 460 in the best buy model has the same type of memory as the normal 192-bit bus GTX 460, but not always true.

so now I can chose between newegg or other online store
im in nj so i must pay tax when buying from newegg :(

I can order one from xoticpc for less but with 6GM memory
do You think that 6 vs 8 memory is a big difference ?

I don't want to pay more than 1300$

the average gamer will probably never use even 6GB. You'll be fine with 6GB and will notice no difference between 8GB and 6GB, currently.

Definitely go with the newegg model. Its not so much the difference in memory, but the difference in being 128bit vs 192bit. Newegg model will perform allot faster.

I just got the Newegg model on Tuesday. I'm very happy with it and I'm definitely glad that I chose it over the BB model. I got to look at the BB model in a store and the higher resolution on the Newegg model makes a big difference.

It's a shame that you'd have to pay tax, but the Newegg version is a much better deal.

i am in NJ and tax is 88$ so this bring price to 1,353$ with shipping.
xoticpc want also over 1300 for JW model with 6GB ram

I think newegg have warehouse in Jersey because last time when I order SSD I receive it one day.

Regardless of the seller rating, I can never advise buying expensive electronics on eBay. Plenty of people do without issue, but it's harder to get good customer service if something does go wrong. Two problems I see with what you linked to are the 7-day return window (if you get a DOA unit you have 7 days to send it back and you have to pay for shipping) and the fact that it's an auction-style listing. The price may look good now, but it's probably going to go up a few hundred dollars by the time bidding ends.

I still think Newegg is your best bet. You'd be getting a non-gimped version of the laptop in addition to Newegg's customer service.

Grab a cheap JH with 1080p and a 5870m. More powerful than the 460 GTX and 30-40% less cost.

I meant in general you can pick up the JH 1080p models for around $800-$900 now.

I picked up my JH which is a best buy version for only $750 3 months ago.

The JH BB version does not have a gimped GPU like the JW/SW does the only difference is that it come with a 900p screen instead of 1080p.

If you want a sandy then go for the G73SW or G53SW or wait for the G74SX version dont go for the G53SX.
