    Hey everyone!

    Quick question for ya all.

In the past, the mobility versions of processors were much like graphics cards are today. For instance, a 1.6ghz Pentium 4M was not as fast as a 1.6Ghz pentuim 4.

I was wondering if it is true for this generation of i7's? For instance, is my i7 (1.6ghz one) pretty much as fast as a desktop i7 would be if it was running at 1.6ghz? I know the new sandy bridges are better clock for clock but I was just curious as to how much the performance is gimped on these mobile i7's vs the desktop ones. (of course negating the face that they lower clock speeds depending on load and thermals and strictly talking about clock for clock)

    THANKS!

Apart from a few cycles lost in the Intel Speed step dynamic multiplier jumps, there are no differences in performances clock for clock, cache for cache for the 1st gen Core i7s mobile to 1st gen core i7 desktops.
