Hello. I have a G73 and I recently bought this cable to attach to my 22" Dell S2209W.

Cable: Amazon.com: Cables Unlimited PCM-2296-06 HDMI to DVI D Cable, 6 feet: Electronics

The problem is that the image on the monitor is blurry. It's not insanely blurry but enough that it gives me a headache to look at the screen. I've checked all the setting in CCC and scaling is at zero. I've been look for a fix all night but no luck.

I have also tried just using a VGA cable to see what the image would look like, and it is the exact same as the HDMI to DVI cable.

EDIT: Both are also running at 1080p, which they both obviously support at native resolutions.

Can you post a picture of the "blurryness"?

Did you try using the cable to connect to a different monitor. It may be possible that the monitor is having an issue.

Did you try hooking up a different computer to the monitor?

When I connect my monitor to my desktop (which is what the monitor was originally connected to), the image is perfectly clear.

EDIT: I don't think I'll be able to take a good screenshot of it because it looks fine on the laptop screen, but soft on the lcd screen. Then, I made my monitor the only screen, but it didn't change anything. What baffles me is that this blurriness doesn't occur when the monitor is connected to my desktop.

I made the monitor sharper in its settings and it improved a little, but it still looks nothing like the laptop display.

It's possible that it's a faulty cable then. If you're looking for good cheap cables I usually use monoprice.

You don't have another monitor to test the cable/laptop with right?

I do not. I know it can't be the laptop however. I mean the HDMI cable to my 32" tv works perfectly fine. But if it's the cable, why does the VGA cable produce the same image quality?

Good point. It was late when I replied. I missed that part.

Maybe it has something to do with the Hz frequency. Is the laptop Outputting at 60hz or something else?

    It is 60 Hz yes.

Does the image quality of the VGA cable being the same as the HDMI/DVI cable indicate anything? Does this mean that it has something to do with the monitor? I don't know what else I could possibly change in the monitor settings. Although like I said, it's perfectly clear when I use DVI to DVI from my desktop.

EDIT: After watching a video for a long time on both displays, I'm inclined to believe that it is the fonts and icons on the display that seem blurry. I tried messing with the cleartype settings, but they haven't change anything. Any other suggestions?

VGA and DVI are def. different in quality. As for the external, what's the DPI?

I'm not sure how to check the DPI. I tried looking up the specs for my monitor (DELL s2209w) but I wasn't able to find it. The native resolution is definitely 1080p however.
