    Hi all,

I've had a G73JH-A1 for a few months now with no problems. I bought it in Canada before moving to Mexico (indefinately). Of course, as soon as I go to use it for the first time in Mexico - it doesn't power on. When I press the power button, the blue LED on the button and the blue backlight flash on for a split second, but no fans turn on or anything. When I plug in the ac adapter, the green light comes on on the front (goes out for a few seconds when I press the power button and then comes back on).

While travelling I had the laptop with me, in it's backpack, the whole time. It didn't get bumped, dropped, or anything of the sort - I was very careful.

I've just gotten off the phone with ASUS and they won't do anything for me because I'm in Mexico - even when I said I would pay for shipping myself they told me it wouldn't be possible. So much for global warranty...

    Anyway, anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Maybe send it to someone you know in the states and they can do the warranty for you...

I wonder if you came in contact with anything magnetic on your trip.

Global warranty seems to be only where they sell and service Asus around the Globe. I checked their site, there is no service center in Mexico.

And the service centers in USA only service USA and the Canadian only Canada.

What I would do is mail your notebook to Canada where you were and have someone in Canada do the RMA for you.

    Or

Contact your reseller. Have them set up the RMA and then mail your G73 to the reseller and have them take care of it.

At least open the bottom panel and make sure the reset button isn't getting pressed down from any wires first.

I really like this idea. Make someone else responsible for it.

I did open up the bottom and as far as I can tell the reset button isn't being pressed down (and when I do use a paperclip to press it I can feel that it's being pressed, so I guess its not being held down)

I guess I am going to have to send it back to friends in Canada, but I was really hoping to avoid that as shipping it from Mexico will run me atleast a few hundred, take weeks and really isn't very reliable. :(
