    I'm currently running 10.7 drivers with Ziddy's V3 vbios.

Whenever I play videos through Media Player Classic or flash videos online with GPU acceleration turned on, the card always downclocks to 200/500. When playing 1080p video, this becomes a problem because they can get choppy sometimes. While videos play fine when acceleration is disabled (plenty of cpu power), I'd like to know what causes it to downclock.

Is this a specific thing with Ziddy's vbios, or does it occur in all of them (stock/clevo/msi)? I've tried disabling PowerPlay and various other settings, all with no effect.

Mine drops to 500/1000 for videos. That really odd.

I think ziddy made it that way. The originial bios is 500/1000

But I am on the v3 vBIOS and I still go to 500/1000

That is really strange. 200/500 is what it's supposed to downclock to on battery using PowerPlay right?

No, whenever the unit is using hw acceleration, like say DXVA playback, it's suppose to go to 500/1000, and 500/1000 ONLY.

It's probably because I get 500/1000 when I am plugged in on AC power. ;)

I'm plugged in on AC too.

    Xeven's vbios v2 has settings for 700/1000, 500/1000, 200/500, and 400/1000

EDIT: If you're using Ziddy's vbios, then how is it possible to get 500/1000? Wouldn't that clock have to be in RBE?

The UVD powerplay state in RBE is for the video acceleration. In Ziddy's it's 200/500, and Xeven's/stock it's 500/1000

At this point I may just flash back to Xeven's or just make my own vbios.

That shouldn't be since there is no 500/1000 setting in ziddy's vbios. It downclocks when a program such as media player classic uses the UDV feature.

Made my own vbios exactly how I wanted it, and it runs great! Also, now there's no need for overdrive since I have the clocks directly in the vbios now.
