Once again I come to the many wise ones here with something I did wrong. I had no problem replacing my first HDD with an SSD a year ago. But this time, the image was not perfect and/or the OS decided to change the drive letters. Some programs disappeared - but were still installed. My Desktop is no longer an option for places to save documents to. I tried to find a way to change back the drive letters, but it won't let me. Help - how do I go back and set this right? Then there's the issue of not having 2 drives with the same letter on the machine - even for a second!

Control Panel -> System and Security -> Administrative Tasks -> Create and format hard disk partitions -> Right click the drive -> Change drive letter and paths..

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, Dallers - that's what I was doing and it would not allow it, saying something like parameter is incorrect.

After more searches online, I discovered that the OS wouldn't let me change that disk because the page file was on it! So I held my breath and successfully changed the page file to a partition that wasn't swapped - and voila!

I was able to change the drive letter, everything magically reappeared on my desktop and all is well (for now) in my universe.
