Hi guys and gals, great website you have here!

I've recently purchased an Asus G73-JH-BST7 from the USA. Its currently being shipped to my house, here in the UK.

Obviously, we have different plugs than the USA, so i'm going to buy an adaptor which allows the USA plug, to fit into the UK socket. However, they also run different voltages, so my question is, will i be able to plug the laptop straight into the wall? I think it should say on the brick, weather it supports 240V ( UK ) or not. It would be great if someone could have a look for me!

    Thanks you!"

Hi there and welcome. I was in the same boat as you a year ago :)

The brick you will recieve will most likely be able to switch and it will show this on the brick itself if it is the stock 150 watt Asus adaptor that comes with the laptop (which I would assume it is) with a US plug it can switch from 100v - 240v.

You will just need a convertor from US to UK.

I picked up this one from Currys when I was in a hurry for my Storm SF-19 and it works perfectly. But I am sure you can get cheaper ones just make sure the convertor is fused.

You could probably get a new cord too and plug it directly into the power brick, they are usually easy enough to find. You can get any cord that has the same type of connector for the power brick and that plugs directly into your electrical outlet. It should cost around the same as the converter that Dallers linked.

Yup it will come with the Azureware Atheros Wifi adaptor I have been using it since I picked it up before seeing others using the N-6200 Intel adaptor and decided to pick that up from Ebay for £10.

Highly recommend changing it out for the N-6200 reception and quality is a lot better.

You don't need to do anything hard replace the wi-fi adapter fortunately, just open the bottom panel and you'll see it right away. The Atheros isn't bad, but it isn't great either, the 6200 clearly beats it and it can do 5GHz too if you have a dual band router, it's a great feature.

I got mine from Laptop Monkey for £10. Got lucky.

The atheros is not bad but the Intel for me streaming and uploading large amounts of data by Wifi its fantastic.

There is a listing here for £15. :D
