Lately I noticed that the palm rest of my G73 is getting all stained (middle gray).
How can I solve this so makes it homogeneous Black?

I tried rubbing alcohol, but no good.
    this very ugly.

Unfortunately it's your palm sweat reacting with the rubberized finish, causing a chemical reaction. Once it's changed, it's permanent.

I'll try anything here. and post the results.

I would try rubberized polymer paint. Where you can find that, i don't know. You could also simply buy another top panel from asusparts if they sell it.

Bad design on ASUS's part, worst part of the G73. Apparently the G74 has it too, my god ASUS.

mine hasn't changed either in the 3 months or more that i've owned it. I play alot of games, but i don't do a ton of typing or anything. I have cleaned the rubberized parts with a multi-purpose cleaner to remove sticky parts and ash. Came VERY clean i was impressed.

Yeah I notice sometimes in places it goes a little white/greyish colour but I just wipe it and it goes. I really like this design as having hard shiny surfaces can become uncomfortable when gaming for hours on end.

Have to agree with Chastity you bunch of sweaties! :p Stop eating junk at your laptop while playing World of Warcraft! haha

Same here, mine hasn't changed color aside from the dead skin magnet that a rubberized surface is. Still that is a bummer, maybe Asus can use a different material in the future. There are so many polymers available right now, the problem remains the cost though.

iirc, quadzilla did a very cool mod to this part of his G73. He cut out some carbon fiber-ish sticker from a laptop skin, and covered the palm rest area.

Looked pretty cool and extremely functional.

I clean my hands regularly and don't own any clammy palms so mine looks perfectly fine. :D

the rubber does not stain from normal use. simply wash it with a damp cotton cloth. i see it all the time it is not permanent. i have had these come back from feb 2010 with the same issue. the discoloration does wash out without much effort
