So I was all set to buy a G73JW when I saw the HP envy 173d.
Now I am wavering. I know I would like the 3d part....but I am thinking how can the 5850m in the HP run games at essentially 3840X2160? Maybe I am missing something?

i thought i heard somewhere they were gonna roll out the G73 with 3D?

also, the G53 already has a 3D model that's coming in soon.

the specs on the envy 173d seems to be inferior to G73, how much is it selling for?

It is 1599 I just ordered it....with tax it came to 1634. I got a 50 off coupon on checkout. I will see if it can handle 3d myself I guess!

Many people say that HP Envy has an over heating issues because the way it was built. Either way, Envy is still a good laptop.

Dude be warned, the Envy gets CRAZY HOT! My buddy has one, he and I were playing Fall Out New Vegas on our laptops (I own the G73) after like 2 hours his envy got so hot on the right side that it started to melt the plastic pad he had underneath it, while mine (which was played at a higher setting) was still running cool. 3D is nice and all, but I probably would have looked around a bit more if I were you. Hope all goes well with yours, it might just be his laptop.

omg, sometime happened to my post (triple post) and when I try to delete the rest, all of them were deleted.
In short, HP over heat a lot, even if it is basic web surfing and chatting functions, (this is from the example of my sister). She had it for only about a year and now needs to use a cooler everyday.
quite a few of my fds also has hp, all suffer from overheating (and I do mean all, around 4 fds of mine has hp because they said they liked the design and bought together).

I personally also had one died from overheating...

if you want to do some gaming, at least think abt the heat causes you not able to overclock well
