I have the ASUS G73HJ and I was wanting to use a VGA cord to use my TV as an external monitor. When I plug the VGA cord in to my laptop and the TV, my computer recognizes the TV but the TV says no signal. I've done everything I can with the display settings on both the laptop and TV. I'm not sure what is wrong. Any help would be great. Let me know if you need more information.

Did you try FN + F8?

Yes I've tried that. I just bought an HDMI cord and it worked but I can't get the settings right. It also looks bad. I don't know why the HDMI would work but the VGA would not.

You should test the vga output on your laptop with a monitor instead of a tv. Tv's can be a little flaky using vga cables.

How do you have it setup? Are you extending your desktop to the tv or did you setup the tv as a mirror? If you set it up to mirror your desktop you'll probably have to change the resolution on the tv. Usually both resolutions are the same when you set it up to mirror.
