I should also probably add, I'm on 211 Bios with Gary's Vbios..and whatever version of catalyst was suggested with that. 10.7, 10.8?

10.8 was suggested. I know others who are playing Civ V just fine. I would suggest uninstalling 10.8 and try 10.7a Hotfix package. If that works, use it until 10.10 comes out.

    K, I'll give it a shot, thanks.

Mine does load the DirectX 9 version flawlessly, it's just annoying because it won't even give me the option to play DirectX 11 version, despite running the utilities it's suggesting.

Haven't played much but for me the DX11 wasn't grayed out and I'm playing using that (the menu gave me an option to right click and create a shortcut,so I made one for DX11 ver...whatever that means)
silly question but did you install the dx version it prompts you to during install ? and the something redistributable thing ? I experienced having issues when I cancelled them on a previous DIFFERENT game install

    I'm on 211,Gary's vBios and 10.8

Working just fine at my end. Using 10.5a (hotfix version) and Garys vBios.
