A lot of people seem to be having problems with their new G73JH so I just want to get an idea of how many and whether there's a correlation between model and hardware failure.

The poll is regarding any piece of hardware in the G73JH that has failed or become faulty, leading to an RMA.

**Please only vote NO if you've owned it for at least 2 weeks**

This is probably another common model: G73JH-X1. Absolutely no problems here going on three weeks.

x1 is probably more popular because it was available first.

My G73JH-X1 has been relegated to "No, other model".
    :D

I have owned the G73JH-X1 for over a month and during this time I have had two problems. The first issue happened almost immediately and turned out to be the pre-installed Creative software. The issue was so bad that I was this close -><- to RMA'ing. Had the free UPS label already printed and box ready to go.

The second issue was with a Microsoft supplied, add-on theme which caused an almost instant BSOD and another BSOD when it was quickly uninstall. None since. Reminding me of a valuable lesson I learned awhile ago regarding themes.

lol sorry, wasn't really familiar with the X models since all I hear about are the A and BB models. Plus I really only started looking at the G73JH when the A models became big on topic. But I knew they had some other models hence the 'other model' lol.

Grandpa still has him one of those G73 which-ma-calls-its. You know the one that still uses Giga-Hertz and the memory isn't even real since it doesn't have a passive brain gate neural port. How could they stand to even live back then?

    LOL

That's okay bb, grandpa still voted. :)

This poll is useless since majority of G73 users who don't have problems don't even post here.

BTOTech which is not the biggest reseller here already claims they sold over 100 of them. Between NCIX and PCCanada probably another 1,000 sold and yet only a handful of Canadians are on this forum.

I'm guessing between GenTech, Xotic alone sold over a 1,000. Nevermind how many bought from Best Buy and NewEgg. NewEgg has sold hundreds yet I've only read about a dozen people who bought from NewEgg post heree.

Think of how many Australians own it.

What about the Europeans? The ones I've seen post are the few who decided to order from Xotic and shipped all the way there...

What about the entire continent of South America, Asus I think has HQ in Brazil also, or seems like it.

C'mon, you can see how useless this poll is.

These polls are popular around here. They always have been. People need to remember that a lot of new people who pop up here are looking for help because something is wrong. Rarely they visit just to gloat how great their system is.

X1 from Newegg here with no problems. I could stick around and gloat about it, but I don't think that'd be proper. ;)

I started here because of my interest in the G73 and have stuck around thanks to all the great information here. Though... isn't this the second such thread already?!

I think there was a similar one that asked what part failed.

I'm just curious because there are many reports of lemons or hardware failures within weeks of owning it. It may still be a small percentage but this is something I didn't see with the G51's at all (not including the G51J BSOD problem), so something doesn't seem right. Plus I just want to get an idea of the situation as I'm thinking of moving to a G73JH.

The other was more specific with the hardware. I just want to see as a whole whether owners have had problems and if so with which model.

I was referring to this one btw

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=461117&page=4

The one you linked is a pretty useless poll as it's not specific enough. Doesn't mention a minimum length of ownership so those who voted 'no problems' could have just had it for one day. It's more just a 'hey this is interesting' kind of poll. My poll is more or less a straight yes or no poll for owners who've had it for at least 2 weeks.

You can see who voted in the one I linked. Funny how you see Quagmire LXIX in the 'My system has no fault !' choice. Guess it must have been before the two or however many G73JH RMA's he went through.

... Then you havn't been paying attention to the g51 forums. I've had two - one got returned for dead pixels, the other for BSoDs - and I was not having 0x124 errors.

Well obviously the number for the G51's is much less. I'm talking about the VX/BB version like the one I have. Not the J/JX models notorious for the BSOD issues mentioned in my previous post. I don't have a J/JX so I don't read the threads dedicated to the BSOD issues. Unless there have been multiple, ongoing cases of dead pixels with the G51VX I don't think it's fair to say I haven't been paying attention. I have paid more attention to the G51VX than the G73JH (since I own one), yet without even looking have read many posts regarding G73JH's failing not long after purchase.

Yet, ironically more G73 users currently have voted that they don't have problems. :)

Never before have I bought a notebook, RMAed it for a hardware problem, bought another, gotten another but different defect, and returned it too. They were from different stores too, one from Newegg the other from Best Buy.

Yeah it could be my luck, but this is suspicious IMO. I'm not alone on here apparently with the multi-defective experience.

Both defects were semi-difficult to notice though so QA could miss them. First defect was with the GPU being unstable with Catalyst 10.3 but fine with the ASUS 9.12 set. And the second defect was a long vertical line of dead pixels on the LCD that only showed up with blue hues.

Well, no, the VX versions are solid. Considering the maturity of the hardware, though that should come as no surprise.
