I have a BB G73JH and I have noticed a couple of issues with putting the machine to sleep.

    1. When the machine is reactivated from sleep mode I no longer have the ability to adjust brightness of the display (Fn F5/F6). The ATK "ripple" graphic appears but no change in brightness.

    2. The blue accent light below the screen is always reactivated along with the blue function buttons at the top left of the keyboard (I dislike these things).

The lights are no big deal, but the loss of brightness control is annoying.

Anyone else experience this out there? Not sure if this is an AMD issue or a Microsoft one. Done a few Google searches, but could not find any definitive answers.

I'm running 10.10e Catalyst Drivers from Guru3D (experienced the same phenomenon on official 10.11). Hibernate is disabled. Win7 64-bit. BIOS 211 and ASUS Beta vBIOS.

That happened to mine as well. Just fold and open the screen. It should return to normal.

This is not normal, I use sleep all the time w/o this issue. I would verify that I have the latest ATK package ( Version V1.0.0005 ) from ASUS's site and Try a standard win 7 power scheme. (not the power4gear schemes)

I have noticed that the full lighting does resume after sleep mode (the blue bar + kb lights, even if they were off), but my screen brightness works fine. Running 10.8.

Yeah I would say that is not normal. I have yet to hear of that happening on any of our G73 models. I would try the other ATK driver suggestions and windows power themes suggested by previous posters. I did come across someone with an MSI GX660R having the same issue as you. If I hear of a solution I will let you know. I wouldn't be terribly worried as it probably doesn't indicate a hardware issue, even though it is annoying.

    Good luck!

What bios and vbios are you using? Also have you tried using the fn + f4 key to increase the screen brightness? You can also open up controldeck and see if your on high performance, and see what the current brightness is on.

So far I have not had that issue on my BB G73 either.
It works fine when I come out of sleep mode.
I agree with Joseph , I would try redoing the driver or see if there is a newer one up that you have not updated. I do know that some of the BB models did not have the latest drivers that are on the ASUS site for the G73JH, I had to go and download a few and update them.
And do not use the ASUS auto update that is on your computer. That thing will make a mess out of your system real quick. That is when it works.
I took my auto update off my machine.

OK, so it turns out the culprit was the modded 10.10e desktop drivers I was using. Once I rolled back to official mobility drivers the brightness control returns after waking the G73JH from sleep mode!

I'm using the same set of drivers, and I can't replicate the issue.

Waking from Sleep and Hibernate and I still have full brightness controls. Only reason I'm "thinking" of moving on to 10.11 is because it fixes that stupid 16/32 bit bug.

That is why I moved on to 10.11 that 16/32 bug was driving me nuts!
