I installed NBProbe due to wanting to know what my temps are, CPU and GPU wise. Well, "Normal" doesn't tell me anything. What all are you using on your G73s that will actually tell you the CPU and GPU temps?

Well, I use HWMonitor on my notebook. Not a G73, but it should all work the same way. That will tell you everything.

HWMonitor did not work on my G73...I beleive you need updated ATI GPU drivers to run HWMonitor...I have the stock drivers and I usr HWInfo32...I used to use HWMonitor on my old FX and loved it but I am slowly liking HWInfo32 a bit more now..It displays much more than HWMonitor...but the million dollar question is, is HWInfo32 as accurate as HWMonitor...which is the most accurate? Thanks!

Doesn't seem to pick up the GPU temps on my BB G73.

HWInfo32 Provided a ton of info and briefly flashed the ATI temps before setting them to zero. Also the mirrors they use for downloads are full of goofy crapware that just trys to trick you into clicking them.

    Cheers,

If you run HWinfo32 TWICE in a row, it will retain the GPU temps, not sure why it does this...run it...stop it...then run again - voila - temps.

When you say CPUID HWMonitor did not work on your G73, what do you mean? It would not run or you can't see the GPU temps?

GPU-z is another program that doesn't work with the Mobility HD5870. None of the sensors work and I miss not having access to the sensor history graph.

I'm beginning to really dislike the way that HWInfo32 works. First that annoying little config/run box and you can't detach the summary from the rest of the program. If I need that much information I would run Sandra. It also doesn't read the HD5870 correctly, says the GPU clock is 1400, when it should read 700 and memory clock speed is 4000 (effective 16000) when it should read 1000.

I love HWinfo32...it displays SO MUCH!! (edit. Kalim you are right most of the junk you speak of is somewhat inaccurate but I ONLY use it for the "sensor" temperature option)

But after reading up on temperature software, it sounds like RealTemp is the only TRUELY accurate one! It is DESIGNED for Intel chips...anyone running RealTemp? I may just install it, run it side by side my HWInfo32 to see how accurate HWInfo32 sensors are..

    Try Everest
But since the HM55 board and 5870m is quite new, they are not supported by many softwares now...
