Here is another issue I have with my G73JH --- RAM / Processors:

I have the feeling that I am not able to access the entire 8GB of RAM in this laptop that should be available to me.
I also do not feel that I am getting everything—speedwise— I can out of the processor either.

For example, whenever I am burning a DVD or editing large videos the laptop slows down considerably.
I tried to configure via msconfig>Boot>Advanced Options. When I do, I set it to 8 (Processors) and 8192 GB to Max memory (checked or unchekced), but it always returns to 1 and 0 respectively.

    here are two screenshots:

I am on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Bit.

My question is: is that the right configuration (i.e. 1 and 0)? If no, how do I set it to max 8 procs and 8GB mem?
If 1 and 0 are the right configuration, then why is the computer so slow?

I should also mention here that I had a number of times bluescreen apearing with "dumping memory 100% ..."

    Thanks a lot.

Let windows handle it, you have one physical CPU with 4 cores and 8 threads as for the RAM if you let windows handle it (option grayed out) you will have access to all your installed RAM. In short, leave those settings on default and don't mess with them.

    thanks for that.

any thought of getting bluescreen apearing with "dumping memory 100% ..." ?
does it by any chance suggests some sort of RAM damages?

    cheers

download whocrashed and post the results here, blue screens in general could be a number of things.

corrupt installation, ram, gpu or other hardware relate or driver issues.

Genius if it restarts after blue screen, go to startup and recovery and uncheck Auto restart under system failure. (I do this mod on every machine I work on). Run the Whocrashed then.

well its not happening now though but it did happen quite a few times, especially when OS installation would stop in the middle due to overheating problem.

should i still go ahead and do as you suggested?

I'd say do as JOSEA said and monitor the situation. If your BSODs were overheating related, they should just stop.

Just to get clear, your overheating issues are fixed?
Because if not, then it could be that your system (cpu) is throttling down while under load and thus getting slower!
An other thing, your power plan is set to Average or Asus?
