Suddenly a thin red, vertical line appeared app. in the middle of my LCD screen. Have looked all over the net, no solution, does anyone here have a clue?
I hooked up an ext. monitor, and it did not have the red line, so it´s a problem with the monitor, maybe open it up and check the cables?

Check the LVDS cable if you can, but be prepared to have to change the display.

Thanks tijo, where is that cable located? Do I need to open the whole thing?

Unfortunately, you do, it's a rather long disassembly process. If you're not comfortable with it, don't do it. There's a video on youtube on how to do it, just search g73 disassembly.

Ok, did it 2 years ago when I got the 920XM, so I´ll have to do it again, not happy about it, no Sir...

    - or buy a new one... You still have the G73JH, or was it sold?

IMO after 4 years everything starts to fall apart, the rubberfinish is sticky like glue, the heat, oh man, the heat is working the hardware, and no keyboardlights, and the battery is dead, just so depressing.

    Possibly a screen issue.

Yes screen or cable, a single red line is more likely to be a panel issue.

If the question was directed at me, I still have it, it's currently loaned to a friend in need of a computer and given that I also have a gaming desktop, M6700, Elitebook 2760p and a Thinkpad Tablet 2, it didn't get much use anyways.

Last saw the G73 a month ago, still in good condition, some discoloration on the palm rest, but that is expected wear, scratched on the rubberized finish too, but again to be expected. Nothing falling apart so far.

Few days ago, got a reply yesterday:

"Please contact an Asus Servicecenter near you"

    Wow, Asus Support IS awesome!

Last time I had it in shop, the keyboardlight disappeared, so l´ll probably buy a new LCD and fix it myself.

Maybe I should buy a used one from Ebay for spareparts.
