    Hey there;

    It seems the battery on my G73JH has died; it lasts no more than a few seconds, probably a minute or two. I was looking at the Asus eStore and they have the battery there, but it's like $140 bucks. There are some compatible ones in other sites, including good ol' Amazon, which can be had for about $50 - $80 bucks.

    What's your take? Is it worth it to go for the original Asus one or do you think I should go for a 3rd party one and save some marmaja?

    Thanks in advance.

    If you care at all about money, get the third party ones. What's the point of getting a more expensive version anyways, if its exactly the same?

    Well... I don't know if it's "exactly the same"... maybe it is. It's just that I figure the Asus one is more trustworthy, perhaps? I dunno; at least I would like to think so. I mean, there has to be a reason to justify the price difference, no?

    Most chinese "knock offs" won't be as good as the genuine battery. Some will perform as well, but it's a gamble if you go for a third party battery.

    I agree with Tijo to a point, when ASUS replaced my batttery under warranty the one they sent me completely died with ~25% charge remaining even though I calibrated it. I guess I was just unlucky. I did consistenly get 1.5 hours life when it discharged from 100 - 25%.
    Personally I would avoid the knock offs also though.

    You could see if they make a compatible one with more cells for longer battery life
