Hey there! It seems after I sleep and wake my computer that the brightness control no longer works. I will use Fn+F5 0or F6 and while the slider thing comes up and says its moving the brightness, the screen remains at the same level.
A temporary fix I have found is to go into Device Manager and open the Monitors submenu, right click and uninstall Generic PnP Monitor, then at the top under Action, scan for hardware changes. After this, the brightness control will work again, but screw up again after the laptop has been shut down. This is one of the last problems annoying me with my G73JH and would really appreciate any help in regards to the situation.

Have you tried reinstalling the ATI graphics drivers?

If anything, this may have been brought about by reinstalling ATI graphics drivers. Lol!

LOL. Well I think there's two things involved - the ATK package and the graphics drivers. So one of them is not working properly. Either that or it's a problem with the windows installation itself but that would be less likely.

G73JH here, I have the same problem. It's not the ATK package, at least I don't believe it is because if you go into your current Power Plan and try to adjust the software slider nothing will happen either.

What driver are you using? I'm using the 11.4 beta which was posted here in the forum. It's honestly the first time I've ever tried to adjust my brightness, after reading your post so I'm not sure if the same thing happened with other drivers on my machine.

Your fix does work for me. Perhaps we need to find a specific LCD driver for Windows 7 and not use the generic driver. I have no idea how to find a working driver but that's just a thought.

It seems like something wrong with the LCD driver and Windows 7 to me and not either the display driver or the ATK drivers.

Will keep an eye on this thread.

    I'm using 10.8 I believe but 11.1 CCC
Yeah what your thinking sounds right, but I don't know where to find a driver like that either.

I get this sometimes and have to fix it by pulling out the power and plugging it back in.

I've experienced this problem before too. I only had it completely unresponsive once or twice but I often have a weird issue where I click on the brightness slider and the slider doesn't move but the brightnes WILL change.

I always thought it was some incompatibility between the Asus display controls and the Ati display controls because both can be used to calibrate the display.

    Have some problems here too.
Sometimes while increasing the brightness over half, the level jumps back to 0. It's like a loop.
