As the title says, I was wondering if the warranty on the G73JH will be preserved if the CPU is upgraded by an authorised agent?

Am thinking of getting a 920 CPU around Christmas while I am in the US, and would like to keep the last 6 months of warranty.

Do service agents have replacement stickers so when they upgrade/replace a CPU the warranty is still good? Or if they replaced it and gave a letter stating work carried out would that allow retention of the warranty?

One big plus that made me get the G73JH was the 2 year international warranty, so would be a shame to lose it. And, luck being what it is, I would actually need to use it for the first time once it was invalidated!

You would need to get a certified Asus tech to do the job for you and it wont come cheap.

If you have 6 months left you would do better to hold on and nearing the end ordering one in, they should be pretty cheap by then because Ivy will be on the release.

If it has to me an ASUS one then I will just wait. Thanks for the advice. Should let me squeeze another year or two out of the laptop :)

Asus authorized techs will not even do the upgrades. Having non-stock parts will cause the call centers to not even support the unit, except for HDDs and memory upgrades. (So yes, exchanging those WiFi cards is not allowed technically) :eek2:
