Hey,
I took some time and searched all the forums as well as the stickied ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...blems-useful-threads-read-before-posting.html) for what options I had for overclocking the CPU (i7-740QM) of my ASUS G73JH-RBBX05.
So far I found two very useful threads that outline one of the more common options for overclocking the i7-740QM of the G73JH.
Specifically, overclocking through the use of the third party program, SetFSB.

However, as the OP indicates in that thread there isn't really a thread dedicated for comprehensively discussing the overclocking options of the G73JH since they're split over multiple threads.
In summary of the threads I searched, it seems to be that SetFSB is the consensus for soft overclocking the G73JH's CPU (i7-7xxQM).
The option of using SetFSB is broken down in to two methods:
1) Pay for the activation in order to unlock the "slider option" of SetFSB which allows one to manually slide in steps the "clock" of the G73JH CPU until a desired clock is reached.
or
2) Manually use SetFSB's options to Hex Edit option to overclock in increments analogous to the "slider option" until a desired clock is reached.
The second option has a descriptive discussion thread, but only for the i7-720QM

It seems unclear if the same Hex values that worked for the G73JH's i7-720QM would also work for the i7-740QM.
Does anyone know if the exact Hex values discussed in the above link also work for the G73JH's: i7-740QM?
Also, I believe SetFSB only overclocks by changing the "clock" of the G73JH's CPU. Conventionally, one can overclock by also changing the voltage on the CPU I believe. However, I did not see an option on changing the voltage of the G73JH's CPU in order to overclock.
Is there a way to overclock the G73JH's CPU by changing the voltage somehow?
With regards to using SetFSB as an overclocking option there is an informative thread which goes in to the details of how overclocking works for: SetFSB vs. TurboBoost; for the G73JH's: i7-7xxQM and i7-8xxQM.

In addition, I haven't found a thread that definitively indicates that there are no overclocking options in the G73JH BIOS.
Does anyone know if there are any overclocking options for the G73JH's i7-740QM in the BIOS?
Additionally, mostly for the scope and difficulty, but there also isn't really any discussion for hard overclocking the G73JH i7-740QM (through opening up the laptop) - is there no way to overclock the G73JH i7-740QM this way?
I think for the most part the above represents an comprehensive overview of the CPU overclocking options for the G73JH; feel free to post if you have additional information concerning overclocking the G73JH's i7-820QM or even the G73JH's 9xxXM series.
Thanks,

There is no bios option for overclocking the CPU in a JH unless you have a 920/940xm. The only option you have is to enable twin turbo by default and it is a measly overclock indeed.
The voltage on the mobile core i CPUs was locked down by Intel, there is no way to manually change it aside from maybe physical mods and i strongly suggest against attempting that. You will have to overclock by changing the BCLK or not overclock at all.
There are two threads dedicated to the 920/940xm in the G73J and they cover everything you need to know about those CPUs, even overclocking via multipliers vs overclocking vs BCLK. There isn't anyto say about that particular topic that hasn't been said.
Tehre are no comprehensive OC threads for the G73 with the 720/740 and 820/840qm CPUs because the overclocking procedure is the exact same for any G series clarksfield CPU without a xm. The PLL might be different, but that's about it.
