So basically I needed to reinstall Windows 7 because of a freezing issue I was having. I have the G73JH and it had a bunch of issues, but I'd managed to whittle it down to really random freezing. It would freeze no matter what I'd do, sometimes 4 times a day to once every 2 weeks. So I had to resort to doing a clean install. Anyway, I want to know which drivers I truly need. I've gone the the driver page and there are so many it makes my head spin. I'm not sure if I need everything it came with. All i saw were a bunch of icons in my system tray that i never used. The only thing i know i need is the web-cam (The Chicony or Suyin?), and whatever will give me back my Fn shortcuts and keyboard backlight. I already installed the ATI graphics driver and the RealTek audio drivers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I personally recommend against installing this software. There's already a power manager for Windows 7. . it's called Windows power management. Unless you really REALLY need more than 2 power management setups [Battery and AC] all this software does is sit there and take up CPU and ram, and from what I've witnessed it acts as a GUI front end to adjust windows power management anyway. Uninstalling on 2 separate G73 setups also resulted in a CPU temp drop on both machines [3-5c @ idle, though I suppose it could've been some kind of weird coincidence]

All in all though, I personally couldn't find a single use for this software that Windows power management didn't natively provide. I did not, however, spend hours and hours messing with it before initially uninstalling it. If there's a positive side to this software, I'm sure it'll be pointed out shortly in a constructive fashion :)

yeah you are right that with windows power manager you can do the same thing but actually i like the look of the software ... when changing modes and also i want every button to be functional on my g73jh and if i uninstall it my twinturbo button will not work and fn+space might not work too

as for the cpu usage it doesn't torture my cpu not at all
so personally i like p4g hybrid
although chastity mentioned the new version will reduce some performance ... i don't know from where did she get that conclusion

I don't remember saying that about P4GH, especially since I use it. May have been someone else.

yes chastity about that c-mode or something that puts it in passive mode or something ( talking about the cpu)
    and you recommended v1.1.37
can you give more info from where did you get that information and how can i see what version i am using

Oh THAT... yeah, the newer versions past that use the Silent Hybrid stuff, and is not 100% happiness. Basically, if P4GH doesn't have a Turbo button, you are on the wrong version.

Yea, that's where preference comes in. Some people like the ability to engage/disengage turbo from a button. I figure if I need the extra 100Mhz that badly, I can reboot and set it in BIOS. I don't ever plan to sell my machine, but I can always do a factory restore if it ever comes to that. Mostly though, it's b/c I'm an obsessive compulsive O/S tweaker. I cannot STAND the thought of wasted performance, no matter how minute ;)

[PS: What in the heck is FN + space??? Since it doesn't do anything on my machine, I'm assuming it DOES need P4G to run]

If you have P4GH, Fn+Space cycles through the power options (High Performance, Battery Saving, etc...)
