So this could be my final upgrade and I dont have the money for it, so naturally I am going to buy it. Once done I will get bored and sell my JH most likely but we are not there yet :D

I have looked through all of the screens going and have settled on this one:

B173HW01v5 I believe this will fit my JH could someone confirm for me.

I want matte, 1080p and good colour gamet compared my V3 that i have which is 900p glossy general appalling angles and colour is grey not white.

My problem is reviews of this screen are scarce and I cannot find a stockist in the UK at all that sells it. Cost is not really a problem. The V4 I can get for £100 delivered but I really dont like glossy as I have a light right behind me in my room and the reflection is annoying.

EDIT: I have found a stockist :) can anyone confirm this part number. Will it fit in the JH?

It will I have installed it in my G73JH A2 before one week :). It is stright forward job.
But now that I got it my eyes rolling after this LG 120Hz screen that is used in G74 series. Hear that is new world when it comes to gaming with 120Hz panels :)
    Anyone can confirm this?

It is confirmed that it uses standard 40 pin lvds connector so technically should be no problems but again who knows. One that tries first offcourse :)

the v5 will be nice, specs are like mine, but with the plus of being matte (I have the v0).
You will indeed see a whole difference from your 900p one.

    PS

After you get it, you may very well let me know how it fares against your external one, I am indeed considering a small 900p external for other usages...

I know it is confirmed that ours Hanstar panel from g73 series worked after replacing it with LG 120Hz panel on dell laptop. So there should be no reason why it couldnt go other way around. But as we all know asus never stop to surprises us. By the way in hwinfo32 under monitor display type it shows that it is monochrome/grey scale anyone can check this as I dont remember if it was same before I switched panels.

OK. If you se under display type it says RGB color but on myne shows monochrome/grey scale which is confusing as it shows colors :) on screen.
Anyone else with matte auo v5 that can check this?

120 Hz + matte finish are interesting benefits for me (I don't care about 3D until this technology gets more mature), but I'd like to understand other consequences as well. Will that swap of panels in G73JH work directly plug & play or some drivers or applications will be needed for running properly 120 Hz (no need for 3D)?

What might be the price level of 120 Hz 1080p comparing normal 60 Hz panels?

BTW what's the difference between panels in G74SX-3DE and previous 3D rig G73JW-3DE (which is presumably also matte)? If more models share the same panel they could become easier to get.

After some research it looks like full hd 120hz on our g73 series is no go. As all full hd 120hz panels use new standard for lvds connector which is 50 pin in contrary to 40 pin which g73jh and probably other g73 modells use.

I was shifting around in my seat last night trying to find an angle that did not reflect and annoy the hell out of me and considering actually getting a new screen, but I really want the V5 as I like the matte version of the screen and you just cant get it here they only sell the glossy.

Some pics here and here. :(

Ahhh so your a man with good taste then are they are good as they look? :)

I just keep searching and contacting companies but they end up claiming to have it then try to sell me something glossy... :(

I had a matte screen on my G70s upgraded it to 1080p there was nothing better in my eyes I will happily sacrifice some colour and brightness to get rid of the reflection.

I exchanged my Hanstar panel with this one and at first didnt noticed big differences. But after reinstalling windows it did changed my wiew :). Also colors in crysis are much better now. crysis on hanstar I had to turn gama almost all the way down or it was to dark. One thing to in crysis is it looks like somethimes in multiplayer when you would turn verry fast around it is smother like it got beter fps and I know it didnt. Maybe something with response time or else, or just my imagination.
