    Hello, all

I've had my G73JH-A1 for about 5-6 months now, and I've always had some problems with random freezes. I didn't want to try anything extreme as it is my main computer for school, but now I'm on break for a couple weeks and want to get it figured out.

So the problem is that my computer will randomly freeze, requiring me to manually turn it off. It doesn't appear to have any relation to specific programs. I have applied the Win7 hotfix that is supposed to fix random freezes. I also have uninstalled the creative audio stuff that causes freezing. I've monitored my temps, and they seem normal. I also have not had any problems with GSODs or anything like that. My BIOS and vBios are pretty updated, BIOS v211 and vBios v012.020.000.032. I have tried updating drivers, but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

On another note, there have been several other issues with win7 for me.
1-I've never been able to boot into safe mode, it automatically restarts even after trying everything I've found on the matter.
2-my restore points never work. I've also tried troubleshooting this, but to no avail.

I'm thinking maybe a clean install will be what I need, but I am hoping to get opinions of people more knowledgeable than myself on the matter. Thanks for any replies.

I would advise a clean install also, because of the Windows restore and Safe mode problem. Find the Windows 7 ISO download link and use it for your clean install.

hm.. that's too bad. If I have all my games and music on a separate partition than the C:, will a clean install affect those? I don't want to have to reinstall all my games and try to find save files to transfer over and such...

Unfortunately, the save files will probably to on your C drive where your User files are located. This is the case w/ most games.

Alright, I've completely uninstalled power4gear hybrid and am installing the newest hd audio drivers right now. Will post if any more similar lockups occur.

Experienced simlilar issues with a clean win7 install. Reinstalling the Realtek HD drivers fixed the issues.
