Had bought this off a friend and he didnt format before he gave it to me and he had the headphone and mic working (according to him).. I reinstalled windows via the recovery partition and downloaded the latest realtek and the creative audigy drivers. They are not recognize by the notebook at all. Im clueless. Its not the headphones or mic as I have tried several sets. all working on other devices before testing with laptop. thanks.

edit: ive tried searching the forums as well but i couldnt find nothing to help me..maybe i over looked? also took some duster to clean it out and still nothing.

Is this a usb headset, or a jack inputs? You may have to set as default in playback devices.

its a Razer Carcharias headset and theyre jack inputs. like i said i have the latest realtek drivers 2.58, the latest ATI HDMI 2.55 and creative audigy HD 1.0 installed and still the laptop doesnt even register that theres a mic and headphones plugged in...what you mean set as default in playback devices.

Hit START, CONTROL PANEL, Hard Ware & Sound, then Sound. If there is NOT a green check box next to "Speakers" then they are not your default device. Right click on them and select "Set As Default" device.

If you keep having problems you may want to try the link in my signature, What to do with your New G73JH. It will fix everything for you.

In Device Manager under Audio Devices, does it say Realtek High Definition Audio or High Definition Audio?
