So, I saw a Macbook earlier today that had one of these and thought it was a great idea! Very interestingly, its just a silicone material you lay over your keys and thats it. It makes the keys really quiet, and prevents the dust and grime the average gamer may accumulate over time from building up! Its an interesting idea, but I want to know how many people us them.

And does something like this look legit?

I am worried about getting it and it being a generic fit and absolutely not working....

that will imprint the keyboard on your screen.

my friends macbook pro screen looks like crap because of it.

I find the chicklet style keyboard to be slightly less responsive than a "normal" keyboard like my ThinkPad. I personally wouldn't put something like that on mine for fear of making it frustrating to type.

Oddly enough I have keyboard like imprints on my current Macbook without a covering like this! The one my friend uses has done nothing in the years he has used it. I suppose it depends on the quality of the covering.

Not if you put something over the keyboard every time you close the lid like I do. Most laptops come with a cloth of some sort on top of the keyboard. Just use that kind of material when you close the lid and you won't get any marks on the screen.

And yes, I am currently using a CooSkin TPU keyboard protector on my G51 which has the same chiclet keyboard as the G73H.

    This is what I ordered

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TPU-Keyboard-Protector-Cover-Skin-for-ASUS-U80-laptop_W0QQitemZ150380853725QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Mice_Trackballs?hash=item230365b9dd

The U80 has the same keyboard so it'll fit. TPU is very high quality. It doesn't smell, it doesn't leave residue and it's waaaaay more transparent than silicone ones as it's a lot thinner but very strong. I also have a silicon one which is pretty good. The only bad thing is that it's thicker so you're keyboard will become foggy and white looking and it also collects dust really easily. The TPU one does seem to collect dirt and skin or wtv more easily (like they do on mice), but you can always give it a wash/clean it with some warm water and detergent when it gets too dirty. I'd definitely recommend it as it keeps your keyboard clean, especially for gaming since everyone knows how dirty your keyboard can get when gaming a lot. It adds a nice feel, makes typing less clicky and doesn't hinder your typing at all....well at least for me it doesn't.

Oh and I had a TPU keyboard protector on my previous laptop and have one on my G51 now. I'd never buy and use a laptop without one after using them. The keyboard after all is prone to the most wear.
