New here, Whats up all.
Anyways I was having a couple of problems, I am on a scale of computer wiz prob 5 out of 10 when it comes to computers so please explain anything you can. Thanks
It seems that When I got my computer back when it originally came out. The first series one. Anyways I had it for several months before the hdd just failed. Well I sent it into Asus and just received it back this year several months later(Not important) Anyways in the time it was out I decided to buy 2 extra hdd well ssd anyways replaced the factory one with a 512 Ssd and the second bay a 120gb ssd. Anywho after I did that I took it to a friend that works on comp etc (out of state) and had him install Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Since then he told me I had to install all the drivers etc np anywho. I installed all the drivers and it ran very smooth for the first couple months. Now I seem to be having problems. Specially when my brother is playing Sc2 or Civ 5 The Game at one point goes completly black mid match and then none of the keys will work (shift alt delete) No response at all. Have to force restart computer. And I have also realized that the keyboard functions and lighting does not work at all. I cannot seem to find the driver download anywhere on the Asus Support site.
Can Anyone Help It would be amazing!
Also is there a "Free Section" Here? I have a tone of parts I need to get rid of. Thanks

Hmmm, well the key problem might be solved by making sure the asus KB filter is installed.
Have you updated your vbios? -
If u haven't updated your bios to 211 and your vbios, check my signature. Just the tutorial is fine.

There are step by step instructions in the sticky at the top of the forum for upgrading your vBios. You need to do three things, I think.
Upgrade your vBios. I recommend Chastity's version. I like it better because idles at 400Mhz instead of 700Mhz thus making the GPU idle cooler with less thermal stress. Also, Overdrive has been enabled. You can turn on overdrive later if you want and push your GPU clocks up a bit for a little more performance.
Upgrade to bios 209 or 211. Either is fine. Most people are running 211 these days.
Upgrade ATI Catalyst to 10.12. This will likely solve your game issues. You probably can't run 10.12 successfully until you've upgraded your vBios. If you don't, the newer drivers will cause GSOD (gray screen of death).
Also, having a desktop gadget that displays your GPU temperature would be a good idea. I like GPU Observer personally but there are others. Watch and/or record your GPU temp while playing games. Verify that you are staying below 90 C. An overheating GPU can cause problems like this as well.
The sticky thread contains links to the vBios upgrade and flashing the regular Bios. I'm sure there is a link in there about 10.12 ATI Catalyst as well but you can just download that directly from AMD if you google it. Make sure you get the 5870m driver and not the regular 5870 drivers. HWInfo32 I think is a good system monitor that shows the GPU temp. There are several. -
Thanks all, I will talk with my buddy when I go to Michigan next month and see if he can help me upgrade my bios, I don't want to mess anything up as I heard it can kill your computer. Thanks all for the advise
