I G73 kepps freezing now and again but its doing it more frequently, i thought it was my mouse but it still locks up with nothing plugged into and ports. I look in the event viewer and i have the following errors that seem to pop up alot.

    Critical errors

    1. The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly
This error is because i had to hold down the power button to restart

    Errors

    2. The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
    ASPI32
    UimBus
    Uim_IM

    3. The ATKGFNEX Service service depends the following service: ASMMAP64. This service might not be installed

    4. \SystemRoot\SysWow64\Drivers\ASPI32.SYS has been blocked from loading due to incompatibility with this system. Please contact your software vendor for a compatible version of the driver.

These are in my event viewer alot

You should not have ASPI32 running on a 64 bit OS. It was probably installed by an older DVD/CD burning package or perhaps an older DVD/Blu-Ray movie playing software package? It may have been there quite a while and not have anything to do with your problem.

ATKGFNEX is part of the ATK package. Is this a G73JH? If so, removing the ATK package and installing a newer one will probably straighten that up. I usually install 1.0008 but there is one that is even newer than that.

When your computer freezes, is it thrashing the hard drive or just "stuck". Faulty or outdated Realtek sound drivers used to cause the system to freeze every few minutes. Mine started doing this recently. It's out for RMA right now. When mine did it, it was due to the hard drive controller so I had to mail it in for repairs. Yours may be driver related.

In summary, I would make sure you have a fairly recent version of sound drivers, remove and reinstall ATK package, and uninstall any old versions of Nero or PowerDVD or any package like it that you may have installed that is older.

That's just my two cents. Let's see what others come up with too. You can get the latest drivers very quickly from Chastity's driver guide. I don't have it handy but it comes up in a google search pretty quickly.

It sounds a bit like your base Windows install might be a mess.

If you are computer savvy, you might want to back up your data and perform a format/fresh install of Windows 7 and then start installing updated drivers.

Locking up solid is generally either driver related or due to a hardware problem. If you have a Seagate Momentus XT drive, make sure you are running SD28 firmware since prior versions (SD25 and below) had data corruption problems that would cause lockups.

I've done a fresh install and i've self installed the latest drivers for hardware and updated sofware too so i'll have to see if it happens again.
