    If you remove all the ram sticks, you can essentially run 16gb worth. 4x 4gb sticks

    The Dell Precision M6500 uses the PM55 chipset, 4 dimm slots, and officially supports 32gb. The PM55 and our HM55 have the same memory bandwidths.... we could potentially go to 32gb as well.

    Why would you ever need more than 8? Hell even 4. You guys must be some heavy duty photo/video editors.

    I spin up around 20 VMs in a contained domain for demos.... I work with software dev teams.

    And you would need to use Win 7 Pro or better. Home Premium has a 16Gb limit.
