    I'm about to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and see why the heck this game is selling like hotcakes. My rig is the G73JH listed in my sig. For all you MW3 owners out there, are there any special tweaks or settings you use to improve performance, visual quality, or responsiveness during online play? I'm thinking that I should be able to max this game out pretty easily but I'd like to hear what others have experienced. I tried to look for a MW3 tweak guide on the web to no avail and Koroush Ghazi's awesome tweakguides.com doesn't have one either.

    For me on G74SX the game runs pretty much the same as Black Ops, smooth and fast.
    I think there is not much of a difference on the hardware requirements part when compared to Black Ops.

    Stop playing ranked game and go on dedicated with no XP ;)

    Performance talkin' , your laptop is way above required specs , no problems on it. To improve your gameplay , just leave host to host to noobs ^^

    Thanks for the info. So it looks like this will run fine then. Gotta go brush up on my long-forgotten CoD skills or risk embarrasing myself. :p

    It runs " decent " on my M11X ( check config in sign ) ... you'll see that you didn't even have to bother wondering with a G73.

    You know, even with all the tweak they did , it's still Quake 3 engine ... 1999 ...

    Yeah, I've heard that it runs on a modified Quake 3 Engine as well. Actually the last CoD game I played was CoD 2, back when none of this modern warfare business even existed and everything was still WWII. That was the first game to use the engine that is still used in MW3. I remember that CoD 2 looked spectacular when it came out and ran like absolute crap, even on the highest-end SLI rigs of the day. But computer hardware has come so far since then that I'm not worried about that anymore.

    Mine G73, after a little cleaning jobs, perform really well on both MW3 and BF3.
    So yeah, Look like another reason for not buying new rig this year when probably on 2012, another crap from Treyard and battlefield 2143 seem to be broken deal to me.
    Maybe Ghost Recond Future Soldier be my last FPS buy this year.

    I don't know about BF3 'cause I don't have it yet, but I've been playing a ton of MW3 in the last few days and it runs really well maxed out at my native resolution. I almost never drop below 40 FPS. And the graphics aren't too shabby either, especially with the SSAO set on high quality.

    Weird.
    My FPS is really unstable.
    I don't know, maybe i have too many background stuffs or installed program.
    But try this;
    put AA on 4X
    SSAO = High
    Texture = native
    See if you can have a nice frame rate at Native Texture, because i always turn off SSAO and AA in order to have high frame rate for Multiplayer.

    I don't really play multiplayer that much(yeah, I'm missing out on the biggest part of MW3, but I'm the odd duck who just really likes SP), but in my experience MW3 ran great on my G73; no complains at all. Your system will run it without a hitch and give you a great playing experience. I'm not at the system so I can't give you specs, but I'm pretty sure I maxed it out at 1080p. I don't typically up the AF/AA that much as I don't find it that necessary on a high-res screen, but that's my opinion and YMMV.

    I do run on those settings at 1600x900 since that is my monitor's native resolution. I rarely ever dip below 40 although there are rare instances where the frame rate will drop into the 30s because of a ton of smoke and explosions on screen at the same time. Since I don't have FRAPS installed, I've been using ATI Tray Tools to get a frame rate counter from within the game and I would guess that in the typical multiplayer match, my average frame rate is somewhere in the 50s or 60s. If you've got the same specs or better on your laptop there's no reason that this game shouldn't run well at max settings. Have you turned off Vsync ("Sync every frame") from withing the game? Turning on Vsync without enabling triple buffering can halve your frame rate when it drops below you monitor's refresh rate so that might be something to look into.

    Oh then never mind, because mine G73 has the Full HD Res, 1920x1080, i run the game on that setting, maybe it is heavier for a laptop card to handle.
    I tried to run on 1600.900 but it has too much blurry, makes it hard to aim.

    That's probably the reason being that 1920x1080 is 44% more pixels than 1600x900. If you are running it at full HD then you should probably put AA on 2x or disable it all together since the higher resolution will take care of a lot of the jaggies anyway. I personally think the graphics are pretty sharp overall, although some of the textures are pretty blurry even at extra, but then again, BF3 textures at ultra don't look much better either.

    Ya. The fact that IW Engine has been around for quite long, but it doesn't mean that it can't produce good pictures.

    I am gonna try to put the game run on 1280x768 next weekend and see what would happen . ( i have a Samsung Plasma TV 40 Inch and somehow the optimized Screen res of it is only 1366x768. So i think i will hook it up with my G73 through HDMI and try to play campaign through XBOX Controller ( i am pretty bad at controller but fun to play after using mouse for a long time)
    Currently re-playing MoH Campaign , the G73 doesn't even get Hot when i play constantly 3 hours of MoH at high setting , 1280x768 with HDMI for the plasma.

    The image quality setting set to anything other than "Native" will actually upscale it from a lower resolution. That's why the pixels look so enlarged. For any other CoD game you'd think that setting it to "Extra"would give you the best quality. You have to set it to "Native" for the game to render at the resolution you set.
    You also might want to try an fov changer. I tend to get headaches when playing moderate sessions of MP because the fov is set so low (65). So, I'll usually bump it up to 75-85. But use this at your own risk because I think it modifies the game's .exe file. I've been using it for a few months now and it hasn't caused me any problems. But still, you should be cautious.

    Yep running it at "Native" image quality. Also I've never had any issues with the default FOV so I haven't bothered with that.
